Losing a Cootie - worth it?

Sun Jan 01, 2006 9:30 pm

Well, here it is: I recently got a Fountain Faerie Quest (Yay, I know) and I painted my Quiggle, Jenni_Gov, Plushie (it cost me about 98K, so all in all, a great deal). But here's the problem: I want to give her a Plushie Petpet, but right now, she has a Spyder, and these don't come in Plushie. I can easily afford to give her a Plushie Petpet, especially since I got the the Petpet Plushie Paintbrush from the Advent Calendar, but my Spyder has a Petpetpet, a Cootie. They're pretty rare, as I'm sure you all know, and now I'm torn between giving Jenni_Gov a new Petpet and losing the Cootie (when you stop playing with a Petpet, any Petpetpets it has get lost), or keeping the Spyder, which cannot be painted Plushie. Maybe I should just wait 'till they release the colour Plushie for the Spyder?

Before I vote, can you answer this question?

How did you obtain the Cooty? Was it from a random event, or did you buy it from a shop?

Because if you had got it from a random event it came at no cost to you, which makes it as if you had never had the Cooty in the first place. But if you had to pay all 70k NP for it, I would advise you to keep the Spyder since you spent so much on it.

I'd get the plushie petpet you want and get a new petpetpet if you want. I mean you got such a good deal on your ffq that I think you should really go the whole hog and get her a smashing plushie petpet too. And you'll have a huge choice of petpets with the brush being so cheap ^^

I had an island yurble (adopted), complete with island noil and moach but I really wanted to adopt out the yurble and paint my bori island. So I detached the noil (losing the moach) attached it to my bori which after saving for a few months I painted, and then I got a new moach.

If you want that perfect look then I say go for it, a neat pet like your quiggle deserves an awesome petpet :)

I got the Cootie as a random event. Then again, I can't spend too much money on a Petpet, because I am still saving up for a Lab map, and the Fountain Faerie Quest already took a considerable bite out of that budget already. What I would really want is a Hasee or a Gangee, but those are so expensive... So I am thinking, if I would take a new Petpet, of taking a Slorg or a Warf, or maybe a Noil, but those are also very expensive...

EDIT: I think I got it! I have a full Petpet Laboratory Map - I only found out I couldn't use it until I had the full Secret Laboratory Map after I bought it. But, I am saving for a Secret Lab Map, so once I have that, I can use the Petpet ray. Can I use the Petpet ray, and zap my Spyder into a Plushie Petpet? Will the Petpetpet remain?

The petpet lab ray can make your petpet disappear completely which would get rid of your petpetpet too :/

Is there a particular plushie petpet that you would most like? If so you could start saving up for that and by the time you've saved up you'll know whether losing the cootie is worth it (there might even be a different petpetpet that you'd prefer) or if you want to put the nps towards the secret laboratory map. If you are having trouble making neopoints then putting some overpriced items in your shop may help as well, I go to another neopets forum where many people have donation items in their shops (eg omelettes priced at 1k, 2k, 5k etc) and when people are feeling generous they go around giving to other people. Sometimes too you get random people helping you out ^^

And you'd be amazed how many neopoints you can make by playing a lot of the sponsor games :) One other thing, and I only mention it because your pet is such an expensive colour, try and make sure your quiggle isn't your active pet if you can at all help it - otherwise you might fall victim to Boochie or the invisible RE and lose her nice colour :S And apologies if you already know all of that, heh  Hope it helps a bit though ^___^

I would wait for the Plushie Spyder to be released -- a bit of waiting is better than losing a fairly rare Petpetpet. Suggest that TNT create a Plushie Spyder via the Editorial, maybe.
If you think you could get another Cootie, don't care too much about losing it, and/or are pretty impatient, you could get another Petpet and paint it.
This is just my opinion, of course.

I did not know that... what is the Boochie? What is the 'invisible re'?

Tue Jan 03, 2006 2:53 pm

Boochie is a character that in a random event can turn your pet baby, the invisible RE is a random event that turns your pet invisible. These only affect your active pet though - on my main account I have three painted pets so I always keep my yellow koi (who I like that way) as my active pet as he is the cheapest to repaint.

They are not very common events but if your pet is quite expensive (and you wouldn't be able to afford to repaint it) then it's usually best not to have it as your active pet ^^

So, in this case, where I have only one pet atm (Plushie!!!), but am planning on getting more anyway, it might be better to get at least one more already?

Tue Jan 03, 2006 3:44 pm

Yeah it would probably be safer to have another pet so you can have that as your active one. It's kind of annoying really but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry ^^

Congratulations! Hazimel the Aisha has just been born! At least I have a unique name; now I just wonder what to do with my fishing...

Tue Jan 03, 2006 5:39 pm

Oh I still fish with my other pets too, I just worry while I do it and just change active pet and refresh on the page where the last pet fished their item (less pages to load while on a pet reduces risk of it being boochied) ^^

Other people I know though prefer to fish with only one pet though the risk is pretty small. Lovely name for your Aisha by the way :)

What would a baby Krawk look like? It wouldn't go back to being a Petpet.

If you really want a matching pet and petpet then I'd definitely consider removing the Spyder. Trick is correct about the Petpet Ray though, you might get a Plushie petpet from it (I got my petpet turned into a Plushie Pfish or whatever its called) but I've also had it make some of petpets disappear into nothingness so there are definitely risks involved. I'm in two minds about what I'd do, on one hand I did remove a Gallion that had a Mootix attached so I could sell it and make some neopoints on the other I can't bring myself to remove a Gruslen from a Maraquan Draik even though it doesn't match because it has a Mootix attached. But yeah, I'd definitely consider going with your gut feeling, if the Plushie petpet is something you really want then what's an odd 70k (which you didn't actually pay for the petpetpet) lost, just consider it in with the price of the petpet you'd buy. Would you be happy to pay petpetcost+plushiepppb+70k for the look?
