Inflation on Lab Map Pieces?

Ok, this might belong in the Help section, so please move it if necessary, and I'm sorry in advance if this is posted in the wrong place.

Anyway, onto my post. I'm buying Secret Laboratory Map pieces at the moment, and is it just me, or has there been a rather large price inflation on them in the past few weeks? Some pieces are going for almost 60,000np, which wasn't the case last time I checked.

Is this just because of Christmas, or do you think this is more of a permanent rise in price?

Well, when I bought my map a few months back before the PetPet Lab was released most of the pieces went for around 45K. Since to get the PPLab you need the Lab Ray as well, prices inflated a little becaue of that. Other than that I can't think of any reason why they would inflate. When was the last time you checked the prices?

Oh, and I've found that some shops that carry all or most of the map pieces often raise the price of one or two of them to ridiculous prices, I guess because they figure convenience will override budget. That might be another reason why they've gone up.

That's what I mean - they were around 45,000np. Now they're all 48,000np and way above. Last time I checked prices was 2-3 weeks ago, so it doesn't make sense. I now can't find any pieces at 45,000 or below - not even the ones I already have.

That's why I'm questioning what's going on - and I doubt it would be the petpet lab map that has set this off...it's been around for quite a while already. And petpet lab pieces have gone up quite a bit too.. it's craziness, I tell you!

Woah. o___O I just now checked the shop wizard and I see what you mean. That is just crazy.

Maybe it is because of Christmas. A lot of people around the holidays like to give their neofriends presents like paintbrushes and things if they can afford them. I guess it's just a little holiday profitmaking? If they don't go down after the holidays then I have no clue.

The petpet lab may be the cause. As far as I understand it, you need the Lab before you can put the Petpet Lab pieces together.

I think the theory of Christmas is also valid. People buy pieces of map for pressies, so the price goes up.

The prices of secret lab map pieces also fluctuate a lot naturally (or for whatever reasons). When I bought my third one earlier this year prices were at 60-65k for some. But yeah, it's probably for xmas present reasons at the mo.

Best thing to do is wiz snipe them though, if you have the patience. I got my third complete map for 130k in under a week, and the petpet lab map I got for less than 3k in total

i just started playing neopets again about 3-4 months ago... and i was like WOW, lab pieces for 65000NP? i bought my lab ray 3 years ago for a fraction of that =D

but the lab ray changing my pet was one of the reasons i quit neopets in the first place too =p

I think I shall wait until after Christmas, and we'll soon see if it's Christmas inflation or just crazy inflation that won't disappear!

Prices on everything have gone up over the years...I try not to think of the early prices anymore, because it's too much heartache of the prices of today hahahaha.

Yeah, it's true! there HAS been a big price inflation. When I bought mine in August, it cost me 450k. Yesterday, it cost me almost 510k! mean price climb. -snorts-

My lab cost 30k when I got it years back...which was 6 months of savings. Nowadays, I find it even harder to make that much

I noticed this when I sold a picie I found in a random event. it was 51k! I suprise to me, when I bought the lab it cost me about 30k for the most exspensive pice. Most were about 25k. But yes, the petpet lab is proberly the reason.

I wish they'd bring back the Treasure Hunt. That was an awesome way of completing maps.
