New Adoption Rule :S

Tue Dec 13, 2005 10:06 pm

This was pointed out by one of my guild members, I thought it was interesting.

Abandon pet page on Neopets wrote:WARNING!!! Pets that are above level 2, are limited-edition species, or that have been painted with certain rare or expensive paintbrushes, CANNOT be adopted by any account younger than four months. So be careful when abandoning a pet, if you're planning on trying to re-adopt it!

My guess is is that they're trying to cut down on the new accounts that somehow manage to grab pets that are being transfered. Not the best idea, in my opinion. o_O

I don't think it's such a bad idea - as long as most people know about it it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Of course the auto adopters could just create a new account and wait 4 months to be able to adopt.

Hm. Now we have to figure out what certain rare or expensive paint brushes they mean.

According to the boards, checkered is not considered rare. So...yeah.

I just wish they'd have a "neofriends only" option for the adoption agency... that way, if you want to move a pet to your side account, only a neofriend can snipe it... and you can usually either get them back easily or beat them up for it

I understand the auto-adopt issue, but it still seems pretty lame.Neopets just seems more and more biased agianst newer players. . . I understand the reasons why, but it still puts a pretty bad taste in my mouth

I guess this would help stop auto adopters, but I'm a little unhappy that if I got frozen and had to make a new account, my friends wouldn't be able to give me one of their pets.

That's a pretty stupid reason, but yeah.

but that would encourage abandoning pets, since it becomes mmore safe. and neo wants to discourage abandonning pets as much as possible. if they wanted you to be able to transfer, they would ahve made that a feature, but they don't want you to have that safety

We already know that tnt aren't going to make transferring safe because they worry about making it easier for people to sell pets. As lame as many people think this rule is, I think it's safe to say it certainly won't be happening in the near future.

As for the new adoption rule I think it is excellent. If you are really into neopets and have a pet waiting to be moved on to your account, 4 months isn't that long to wait. And once you've waited that long it's now far more likely you're going to get the pet safely ^^ Almost all the pets I've seen lost to auto adopters have gone to accounts no older than 2 weeks. This is going to help a lot in cutting down on the number of pets that are sniped by program and sold, and the number of accounts that are set up to do this, frozen and done again.

It isn't going to stop it completely, there will be people sad enough to create an account to come back to 4 months later just to spread their misery, but overall I think this is a great step in the right direction. It's an inconvenience and an annoyance but if it saves people pets from being sniped and sold or frozen I think it's a good thing. It's just rather depressing that it had to come to this though.

Awesome. IMO, that'll really help, but I better establish my new side so I can transfer in 4 months. This rule is a little setback to that, but if it means less autoadopters I'll take it.

I wish this had been available when I was transferring a grey cybunny. A newbie account with no other pets, no games, trophies, no shop got the pet.

I think the restrictions should go further myself. TNT don't want us abandoning pets, but the game has become a cesspit of cheaters, scammers and people out to make a quick buck.

I think the idea behind TNT having the adoption center was valid at one point and maybe a cute little idea - teach kids not to abandon animals, but the game has become much more than that and TNT need to upgrade the system and not worry so much about the pets being "abandoned".

While scammers still have a free hand to cheat the system, everyone will lose not just the new account holders.

Dang I was just about to create a new account and transfer one of my pets over too! That means I will have to wait 4 months before I can get another pet that I want! that sucks. Would silver be considered rare?

This is just a rumor from the Neoboards, but from what I've heard from there is that the new rule isn't in effect yet. :o

I would think that silver is safe as long as it's not on a pet that's over lv2 or a le pet.

They honestly need to be specific what colors are considered rare in their books. In all honestly, any color that isn't one of the 4 basics should be considered as rare given the amount of certain special solid colors (the exception perhaps the Grundo since its starter colors include Purple, Brown and White from the specific place to get it.)

That's what I'm hearing too. Could be they're banning all painted pets from new users x_X

Now probably wouldn't be a good time to test color transfers is all I can say.
