All the newest maps that TNT has designed are only available in Flash versions. We no longer have the HTML option for the Main Shop map, nor the new maps of Qasala, Sakhmet and the Lost Desert. I know it's not a huge deal, but for those of us on sloooow dial-up connections, it's a pain in the caboose. Will they ever add HTML maps of these places? I'm not so bothered by the Flash maps of the Lost City, Roo Island & Kiko Island since I don't go there very much. But I do miss going to the Lost Desert and High Street. Please TNT, please consider adding HTML options.

I hope they do too, because having flash all the time takes so much time!
What if your rs chating on msn messenger and then there's a restock at the pharmacy and you need to wait for the map to load, so you miss magic cookies!

That would be tragic!
I don't restock anymore though.
But I just use links instead of going to the lost desert and clicking on coltzans shrine!

The amount of times I have "Sent Feedback" to TNT from the new maps surely they should have gotten the hint now. I myself have DSL and my machine is about 3 years old but the new flash maps are even too slow for me. If I want the flash maps to load as quickly as the HTML ones Neopets has to be the only window AND process I'm running on the CPU, and this is with over half a megabyte per second of connection speed! These things are big. Do something about it TNT or you will end up losing hits from users who lack phat computer systems to keep up with y'all.

Except for action effects, like the snow on Terror Mountian, switching to Flash is too much of a waste. They can get just as good images with HTML. They can hide easter eggs just as easy with HTML too. Mmm... easter eggs. To self. (Quiet you don't want them to know you're a nerd.)

I've sent gobbles of feedback forms myself, and was about to neomail Snarkie about it after the opening of Qasala, but her neomail is blocked. It has to be an oversight because it can literally take seconds to create an imagemap and none of the newer maps have any of the old one's special animations.
While they're at it, they can finally update Roo Island's map and remove the gradient shading and terribly dated artwork.

all we can do is hope as my husbands pc is slow as anything and the flash takes forever to load

The way I see it, there are two things we can do... send lots of feedback (which they'll probably ignore) or take things to the Neopian Times and the Staff that we know. I'm sure if everyone sent in the same letter to the NT editorial they may get a response, or if we used other means of communication with Adam, Snarkie and the rest. I myself am going to be sending them a PM through PPT, and if someone writes up a letter I'll gladly send it in to the editorial.
I miss my fast-loading maps, I really do. And it would be so easy to convert them...

For the love of God, TNT, PLEASE. Why even give us options of flash or html if we can't choose for ourselves?
Edit: Just filled out a couple of feedback things, and sent a request into the Editorial. *hopes*

TNTs marketting department: "HTML just doesn't have Pep and Zing"

We should ask them on the Editorial... Someone go post them?
Anyway, things should be the same as last time. The OPTION to choose Flash or HTML. Some people prefer the fancy and cooler Flash while some wants the Faster-Loading HTML. We deserve this choice!

My primary computer is a 6-year-old laptop (
) but it still handles everything at surprisingly fast speeds 90% of the time. However, during its senile moments, Flash becomes its mortal enemy. With the release of Flash-only maps, I've had to cradle my poor lappy in my arms as it wept and moaned about the good old days...
For my sanity as well as my lappy's, I agree that we need to have a choice!!!

Yup, i'm always late for Shrine because it takes forever for the Sakhmet map to load!

Yes, we need HTML Map backs, or the opition of.
This is just cruel to all dial-up or slow loaders, it's bad enough we have 2 sets of freakin ads on the site (mind you, I've seen a couple that SHOULD NOT be seen by anyone).
We need HTML map backs, no matter how 'crappy' the look to you, we like the HTML map.

Well, I just asked the editorial where our option to choose went, and if everyone else is sending feedback and writing to the editorial, they cant just ignore it forever! Or maybe they can :/
Id forgotten to bookmark the Kadoatery, and missed a feeding time yesterday because I had to wait a full two minutes for the main shops map to load. Not fun
I dont want to have to bookmark
everything.
