WARNING: Neoboard Thread Attacking

Sun Nov 20, 2005 11:38 pm

Not naming any names, not giving the link, but if you have any threads or are replying to any frequently on the boards, your thread'll probably be attacked with the following:

"YOUR TOP SOURCE FOR NEOPET CHEATS, PROGRAMS, AAUTOBUYERS, SPAMMERS, AND SO MUCH MORE! LEARN TO DO GRAPHICS OR PROGRAM

JOIN THE GREAT COMMUNITY TODAY!"

The Flaming Warriorz (<3) recruitment topic have be spammed three times by this person on different usernames and everytime I have reported him.

That's really the only thing to do. But apparently this person really liked FW...

Just a warning.

Apparently there's 2 auto-spammers out now then. There was one last night, similar but not identical to the one you posted. It was all over the BD chat -- just about every topic was invaded over and over again.

Yes, many of us reported it, yes it went away ... only to return within an hour (tops) under a new name.

quite sad that people have brains enough to make programs ( or whatever these are) and use them to make something so annoying and lame.

I saw spammers with the same message while I was lurking the LDP boards a few days ago. Super annoying.

I think it's sadder that they have so much time on their hands to develop such programs for a pointless cause. What are they getting out of it besides a short-lived thrill? Can they not find anything better to do than to target Neopets?

I perceive that it is a symptom of wider problems in society.

Well, perhaps not in all cases - some people just thrive on hurting (I use the word in its broadest sense) others.

I saw a new one today:( It is really sad, because they are just messing up the boards:(

Urgh, c'mon monitors. FREEZE!

Mon Nov 21, 2005 7:32 pm

Shoyru LOL, usually we're complaining about freezing. In this case of course it's warranted. The problem is whoever's making these stupid, annoying things just keeps making new accounts -- for the sole purpose of spamming the boards. IP banning? From what I understand that's not really the answer.

Also note there's a new chain letter attacking the boards ... this one says you'll find 50! baby pb in your inventory

The Help board has been attacked by autospammers and a spammer with the name k1tt13s or tara in their name. It's a wonder why TNT won't report them to their ISP :/

Better yet, why don't they just ban the IP... prolly cause they don't want to ban everyone on that isp?

With an IP or an IP range you get the risk of banning innocent people. What I meant by ISP reporting is reporting them to the Service Provider that they're using, such as America Online or Comcast, and the admins of that ISP have the choice of suspending their account or not.

Yea, Neopets could really take care of things if they began to contact ISP's for violation of their Terms. I'm pretty certain parents wouldn't like to hear that little billy got their ISP Service suspended for spamming on a website a bajillion times. That would stop things quickly ;D Especially if Neopets warned users they would do it.
