Site Monitor

Anyone knows what exactly does a site monitor on neopets do?

I wish to find out more because I just applied for this position! :D

How exactly did you go about applying for the site monitor job? The reason why i'm asking is because there are a lot of scams out there directed at tricking people into giving out their account information.
Just curious.

Lolz, no account information given out on my part I applied based on this which I found on the neopets site:

Position: Site Monitor (Singapore)
Must be at least 18 years of age. Job duties include monitoring various areas of the site to keep it a fun and safe place. Rules would be enforced as necessary through our web-based administrative system. Must be responsible and have a flexible schedule. Full-time positions available. Work would be done from office in Singapore. Pay commensurate with experience; full benefits, and an exciting, fast paced, team oriented environment. Only local applicants, or those planning on re-locating themselves to the Singapore area, need apply. Familiarity with the Neopets.com site a definite plus and should be referenced in cover letter. Please forward resume, and pay/salary history and requirements to mailto:SingaporeJobs@neopets.com.

They are also looking for PHP Programmer & Game Programmer in Los Angeles.

I just want to know what exactly the job entails as the description is rather general.

Sounds like it isn't too different from being a moderator here, except you'd go through the shops, trades, etc. as well to be sure things are safe.

Wonder if I can continue playing neopets as per normal on my account, if I get the job... o_O

I worked in Email Support last year and being part of TNT was awesome. :) I believe as a site monitor you'd keep everything in order where you'd essentially warn or freeze people if someone is absolutely breaking the rules.

Oh and yes, you'd be able to keep playing on your account but would have to set up a separate account to use as a monitor. Good luck!

I'd so love to apply for that position! I know I'm in Australia, but dang, I'd be willing to move for a job at Neopets...

It's so ... very... tempting... to think about... (I just finished uni, so I'm all jobhunting and liking the idea of travelling) :D

I hear the pay packet isn't very much.

An artist is looking at around $500 US per week, that's $26,000 a year... rent in LA? that's nearly all of that gone down the drain... and we're talking before tax.

True. As Email Support, I got $8/hr which really isn't much at all (I'd imagine Site monitors would get around the same) but I was still in school and it was uber fun nonetheless.

Ohh what email support did you work for StinyLLama? SL!!! We're twins! Connection!

The pay you guys mentioned seems ok for me, not sure if they're looking for a part time or full time position though...

Hoping to do it on a part time basis :D

Hehe. SL twins! Fun! :P

Everyone in Email support covers each area once in a while. I did Games a lot and Frozen (not fun--but it was nice when I returned accounts that were innocent). Overall I probably went through around 800-900 emails a day. :o

EDIT: Am I totally losing my mind or did this topic move boards?

I'm graduating this december (hopefully...) and (hopefully) could apply... well my wish is to be programmer, but site monitor is ok for starter...

I worked in Email Support last year and being part of TNT was awesome.

so can I ask you about how to apply (resume and the related stuff), whether it's easy to get the job (I did apply 2 years ago though), interviews (if there any), salary (since I'm not living with my family) etc ? (btw I'm in singapore... so could be different)

You can apply on their site. Honestly it's just like applying to any other job out there with interviews and the works. I don't know how different it'll be for you since you're in Singapore though but you could always ask them for more details.

(I didn't work there too long cuz I had a situation that I had to tend to on the opposite coast and eventually had to move or else I'd probably still be working there for fun. :( )

I'm from Singapore as well, I just e-mailed them directly with my resume, got an e-mail back requesting for my Neopets Account name.
Shouldn't be too hard to get the job, not much pre-requisites from what I see, you're probably over-qualified... :D
