Training dilemma, please help

Wed Oct 19, 2005 8:30 pm

hi guys.
listen, I have a pretty hard dilemma to deal with, and i need your help.

so, first of all: my pet has 112 hp, attack of 75, defence of 49 and level 13. My weapons are alright (I have 7, which leaves me a place for one single use item per battle, h4000 helmet, HP, ramtors etc.). But my problem is that my pet has only Burrow as an ability, which is the big problem.

Now, I made some thinking and realised that for getting Sink and Berserk as abilities, I have to train my pet's levels.
That means like 15 days without labray, which is one con. The codestones will cost me ~225k, plus the faeries so the total comes up to about 250k.
And all that for those abillities.

Now, when thinking of that, I don't have a weapon problem and my pet's stats are fine. investing 250k for those 2 very useful abilities sounds very tempting, though i'm not sure of it.

Please share your thoughts me, that'd be VERY helpful. Thank you all.

Ah, the woes of the lab ray and the awful things it can do to defence and levels!

I don't have the lab on my main account, I'm slowly codestone training my pet. I strongly believe in training -- and getting all the good abilities, they can mean the difference sometimes. Plus, you may have great weapons, but if your pet's not at the right boost or not balanced, those weapons will only go so far.

It's costing a fortune (meaning lack of really good weapons for me) to train up my pet, but in the long run I think it's worth it. That's what I keep telling myself every time I think about the 51 more 4 codestone training sessions I need for 200 strength and defence boosts and 200 hp. Let me tell you, that's ALOT of games (cannot rs for anything).

Well you can always do both labray training and training your levels with codestones. I'd say it's worth it, I have an evenly trained pet and the 350 defence boost is very convenient in battle...

I made a choice: I train my pet, but only to level 30 (sink).
On the way i'll get Drain Life and i plan to get Restore too. that is only one week away and cheaper than i thought.

But i have a question: say i used the lab after i got sink in lvl30, and it caused me to lose 2 levels. can i still use this ability?

Yes.

However, I don't think you can still use Beserk if you drop below level 50.

I give up berserk. 3 reasons:

1. For that one skill i have to waste like 100k for training, in addition to what i have to pay for Sink ability.
2. I'm not tending to give up the labray so quickly, and as we all know, the lab is not going to keep me at level 50 for long time.
3. Frankly, is it really that necessary? I mean, ok, nice attack, but only 10% more than Fierce.

BTW, only one more question (i suck at abilities, never dealt with them before):
How many abilities can my pet have at a time?

thanks

If you codestone train level fairly constantly, you can beat out the lab ray's level loss. It may seem like you aren't getting anywhere when you hit an unlucky streak, but the lab averages a loss of only like 1/10th of a level per day or less. I use both codestones and the lab and I can beat out the level loss. Terror Trove's help too.

Here comes reason number 1 - just getting to level 50 costs big money. Maybe if I was level 47 now... I'd train to level 50 and keep it like that. but atm it will cost me a fortune just to get there... and a lot of time too.

The annoying thing is that you can't say "oh well, lets train to level 30 now and worry about level 50 later", coz the lab will bring me very soon to low levels =\
But i don't care, i just can't do it when looking at the numbers.

thanks god, in one hour and a half i'll have Sink.
but now I have a new dilemma.

lab-training my pet or codestone-training?
1. just balancing my stats (codestones of course) will cost me at least 1.5mil.
2. Lab kills my defence.
3. There are some other ways to keep my defence at good position (kitchen quest, faerie quests).
4. I don't really have a weapon to buy with 2-3m, although I saw some 5-6m weapons that i'd really like to have.

HELP...? o_O
thanks
