Ok, I couldn't find a topic for this, so here goes...
I just went to my shop, and I noticed that the paragraph about 99,999 items being unbuyable, blah blah blah has been replaced by:
Note: shops are strictly a place for selling your goods now. If you wish to display items, then please use the gallery feature.
Does this mean that we can now sell things at any price? Has anyone sold or bought anything from a shop at 100,000 or more?

Just had as earch for Faerie Paint Brush and it looks like they've all been removed from theshops, none are showing up

Hmmm...I want to test this theory...does anyone have 100,001NP and is willing to trust me? (don't worry, you'll get it right back)
Sun Oct 16, 2005 8:57 pm
are you going to put something in your shop for 100,001? i'll try to buy it if you'll buy it back for the same price. what's your neopets username?

So much for that...
ERROR : Sorry, but you cannot price items over 99,999!
Oh well...

You cannot as of yet price over 99,999. No need to try any such things.

I don't see them changing the shop limit anytime soon. For some strange reason, they're hesistant to do so. Perhaps they just want to allow a lot of time for people to know that prices over 99,999 will be buyable eventually...

Possibly they're trying to consider what this might do to prices. Hopefully prices will go DOWN with this since it'd be easier to compare on shopwiz...but maybe not.
I think, now that there are galleries, there is no reason to have a price limit in shops. The trading post is a slow, annoying way to buy expensive stuff.
But that's just my opinion.

I think prices will lower too, because it's easier to be obviously competative on the wiz. On the TP, people write things like "50k lower than lowest on TP!".
Also, a lot of items on the TP don't have prices which is annoying. If you could buy them from the shop wiz it would be a lot easier, since you have to price it. Can't remember the item, but I was trying to buy an item that there were 3 of on the TP, and none had prices, all just said "Don't neomail for asking price. Just bid." If none have prices, how are you supposed to know how much to bid?

I wish you could just sell off of the shop wizard. I've heard on the Trading Post you can't offer more than 800k. I mean, how are you suppose to be able to buy a Faerie Paint Brush or something that sells in the millions? That is just the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The shop wizard would make everything a LOT easier, and you don't have to wait around for the person who owns the lot to get on Neopets and accept or reject your trade. I think trades should just be if you want to exchange items with someone, not to buy something expensive from somebody else.

I agree. It's really annoying trying to buy something worth more than 800K. You have to neomail the person, come to an agreement about the price, make sure you're around at the same time to set up an auction, do that, then wait for the auction to end before you get your item. It's such a long, drawn-out process. Shops should have no limit... or a high limit, like at least a couple million.

you know, if they are soooo worried about the economy so much that they refuse to give out more than 3k for games, then why don't they just put a freaking cap on EVERYTHING? shops, trading post, AND auctions. that way the stupid MSPP card wouldn't be a bajillion million killion neopoints which is lamer than lame.
i'd like to see an 8mil cap. if you want to sell something for more than that, put it on the trading post and ask for expensive items. THAT'S WHAT I THINK.

Oh, I agree! NOTHING is more annoying

When they answered that in the Editorial, I was furious. Making more rare items advailable will decrease their price, not making it harder to get Neopoints >.>

But you don't understand. Donna or whoever did that editorial is completely right. If anything, they should make the limit smaller (but only if they pump more items into the site). Inflation occurs when there are more Neopoints to be spent. If you raised game limits, there are more Neopoints to be spent on items. Therefore, it's easier to get NP and easier to reach your "goals". With more and more items being sold, the price will go up even more since more people can afford a certain item.
However, with less Neopoints in the economy, there are less neopoints to spend, forcing sellers to reduce prices and therefore allowing people to purchase the item at a price reasonable compared to what they can earn.
However, we don't want any of those. We want lots of NP, AND we want items. So, the ideal solution would be to keep NP caps on games and such where they are and to simply increase the amount of items put into circulation. More items means that the demand of the item will be met better. For an example, suppose there are 100 Maraquan Paint Brushes in existance. But there are 500 buyers. Since so many people want them, sellers can increase prices without worrying about it not being sold. But if there were 1000 Mara PBs, and still only 500 buyers, then sellers would have to reduce prices to compete.
Whew. That was a lot to type out.
But I hope someone agrees with me on this.

Yup, basic supply and demand. However, if they did cap things like the trading post, people would just hang on to items and never sell them again. That would create another problem in itself.
