I've had it.... for a while, anyway....

Sat Jul 03, 2004 7:08 am

I know I don't post here much, but ever since what happened last time last December.....

Anyway, after loosing all but my two main accounts to hackers, I'm taking a break from Neopets. There's just too much going on at Neopets that it's stressing me out more than calming me down. Hackers, ABers keeping me from restocking (I know of two that still work), annoing people spaming my inbox, and loosing nearly all 500K due too a glitch, it just seems that eno's taking away everything I love about the site and shoving ads in thier place. It's a bit embarrasing for them to try to maintain a site with such little staff. Maybe if the art staff and programming staff would double as support staff it would be a little better.

I'll still be on here, lurking, but that's about all I do anyway.

But, I do have one question. What is the usual time that your break lasts? I'm considering taking around a month off, maybe more.

Edit: For some reason, the first periods didn't show up in the title, and I added the "anyway" part.

I know how you feel. Every once in a while I need to take a break as well. Lately, they've been more often, though. I'm just sick of having to be worried all the time.

"I just got one Fish Negg in Meerca chase. Should I exit the game incase I get another and get frozen?"
"Uh-oh. My score didn't send. Did something go wrong and I'm going to get frozen?"
"Hmm, someone on the neoboards is nice enough to loan out their Fyora doll so people can get the avatar. Should I chance posting and risk some moron randomly reporting me and getting frozen?"
"I'd really like to move some stuff from an old used account to my current account. Can I do this without getting frozen?"
"I love holding giveaways, but will this be the one that someone wrong catches and freezes me?"
"Can I send my girls or husband those spare codestones I picked up and not get frozen?"

Ugh, it's so insane! Fun shouldn't be like this. Recently, I've been getting very frustrated. I have enough stress in my life and I definately don't need this. When I need a break, I usually take about a week off. Right before PPT came back, I took a week and played Ragnarok Online. Another week, I took off because my family was sick and I needed to take care of them. We watched a lot of movies that week. :) Just last week, I took it off and played Animal Crossing. It's about every couple weeks or so now that I need to take a break.

When I do play, it's less enjoyable than it used to be. I still have fun playing the games and restocking and such, but not like I used to. The most fun I have is from holding giveaways, but those could do me in some day. Let's hope that day never comes and the site changes for the better. I really miss the old Neopets. The current site is growing stale fast.

Whole Heartedly Agree. Parts of my spleen are a ditto with it too.

after my first account was frozen more than 2 yrs ago, i took a 6 mth break. i went on to play Diablo 2 and came back to neopets a few mths b4 the first meridell war.

I decided to take a break when my account got frozen because my friend used my email address to sign up on Neopets, and then did something wrong. But when I returned to Neopets, it had gotten, well... worse. Neopets is going downhill, and if TNT don't do something soon, they are going to lose a LOT of people.

true, true. every time someone has their account wrongfully frozen, they quit and tell others to quit or not to join. soon, there will be no dedicated players and just a pile of 4-year-old newbies who'll have their accounts frozen in a few years time

Probably going to go the same way as you are and take a break myself, Teradyne.

Darn...how accurate are you, Jasujo? *chuckles* All this and more run through my brain (save for the last one, that's more aimed at my Fiance and my few remaining Neofriends) every time I sit down to "play" the site.

You're dead right - worry shouldn't be attached to fun. Neither should jealousy from all those report-happy idiots out there either. >_<; Neo's changed a lot I guess...too much when I think about it.

*sighs* The old Neo's a slice of history that will probably never be repeated anytime soon...

It's sad, actually, that all those things apply to me aswell. But, saying that, I still send expensive things to my neofriends. I don't think anyone has ever bee frozen for sending a friend an expensive item. Otherwise they wouldn't have the 'Give to Neofriend' option.

Actually, people have been frozen for receiving gifts from friends. A dear friend of mine had his account frozen because someone sent him some battledome equipment to try out. Fidds (a moderator here) was frozen for sending a gift to a friend. Other people from ppt were frozen for receiving items a couple months ago. I'm sure there are many other cases we haven't heard about.

Too bad the old PPT boards aren't around. I seem to remember massive freezings occurring in January of this year--and all because people were giving expensive things to one another. In some of the cases, it was because fellow PPTers were trying to help out a frozen friend. And in other cases, the items were simply gifts.

I know Hampie was one of those who was unjustly frozen--I don't remember the others, but I do know that they were frozen too. Jas might remember.

EDIT: Wow, Jas, you and I were typing at the same time. See, I knew you'd remember.

Great minds think alike, eh? ;)

i have also all but quit neopets too. It isnt fun anymore(thats simply because of the freezings, the rest is fun, but you have to worry too much), so i play starcraft. Its people like me who are going to drive neopets out of business, meh.
