Random Contest : Movie Poster Madness

Thu Oct 06, 2005 9:17 am

Current Contest:
Movie Poster Madness: Sci-Fi

Info and Rules:
A certain flick was released this past weekend which caused some of us here at Neopets Headquarters to reveal our true, dorky natures. To celebrate, we're calling on all our fellow Sci-Fi geeks to enter this week's Random Contest.

Your mission is to create the movie poster for a Neopets Sci-Fi film! Here are the things your poster should definitely have in addition to the main image:

- Movie Title (DURP!)
- Tagline (Every great movie has a tagline)
- Billing (That block of credits at the bottom of every movie poster touting actors, directors, producers, etc.)
- Include your username somewhere on the poster!
- Posters can be no wider than 600px, no higher than 800px, and no larger than 1 MB. (Please try to keep filesize as low as possible without degrading your image.)

Sure, Neopia has its own Space Station which should provide you with a multitude of ideas, but don't forget to consider the other places and characters Neopia has to offer for a grand, science fiction adventure!

Drawing is not required for this contest. If you can draw and want to do so, be our guest. If you are a graphics wiz, using images from around the site to compose your poster is fine too. We're judging on the movie idea itself as well as overall poster design.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not submit parodies of real-life, copyrighted films. Yes, the urge to do so is hard to resist, but we can't choose anything of the sort to win (or even place) so please try to stay away from specific franchise parodies and stick to general Sci-Fi silliness.

Lawyerbot puts on a foil hat and exclaims:
- Movies with Robots are Sci-Fi! *nudge nudge*

Oooooh, FUN!

Such a shame we can't do a parody ... is a 50's sci-fi movie freak and thought of at least 3 different themes. Will have to think of something else.

I am in no means a Sci-Fi geek, but at least this is something I could do. xD I've always wanted to make a movie poster... *ponders ideas*

Co-director Duel Bazuka on the set of Meerca Bros. Pictures' Action SciFI film Grimilix's E Squad. His experience as a soldier and at covert operations earned him the repect needed to obtain such a role. Advisor Wessle, an eclectic choice for gopher to the archnemesis (played by Jahbal Eyrie) gives this film a classic feel. The hero (played by Branston the Eyrie) underwent hours of feather dying and makeup. He was quotes as to saying "The hardest part was wearing the space suit and helmet". The recluse producer, Midas Grundo, had no comment on his almost miraculous spending of gold that went in to the production of this film. Catch E Squad in the theatre near the money tree this winter!

I am ever so -removed-! I did not even get so much as a third place spot in the previous random contest. GRRRR. Did they even read it? It is like a real postcard. Postcards generally do not have a title to them. Mine is on my lookup if you want to see it. (I added a title to it). Tell me what you think please. Read it here:

Runedit: The filters are there for a reason, please don't make an effort to avoid them by putting in extra letters.

Just because something sounds like a real postcard doesn't mean it should win. Actually, I think that your sentence structure and grammar could use improvement - you were just telling the facts without any real input/opinions. It all seemed very montonous. Sorry, but I don't think you deserved to win.

The sentence structure and grammar was not made that way by accident. The style choice was strategic as the postcard is suppose to be read like it has been written by a young child.

If you submit something that isnt a parody youll probally have a good chance
