How do you upgrade your abilities?

I'm not sure how to upgrade abilities apart from neggs and the wheel of excitement

From what i know Neggs and the Wheel are by far the only 2 ways to get the upgrade of abilities. The worse part is that you cannot choose which abilities to level up. Meaning you may get a level 10 water blast when you don't even know it! That sucks... :/

Besides that, I think there's no use to upgrading abilities at all...

Is it worth the trouble/neopoints? My pet has like 20 abilities....

I highly doubt it's worth it. I've never experienced it, or know some who has, though.
