Rarity 120? Yeah right. D:

Sat Sep 24, 2005 6:08 pm

I just completed a brain tree quest, and I was so excited, because he gave me a Mummy Baby and 1000-some NP for completing it. When I went to my inventory, under the mummy baby it said "RARITY 120" and when I clicked on it, it said the pet was worth over 100k. I was SO happy, I would finally have enough money to buy some of the paint brushes I want, and I went on the shop wizard, and I found out it's worth a whopping 4k. Well, that was a big dissapointment. D: I think Neopets has to update their item descriptions....

Probably.

It's consfusing, and in some cases upsetting.
Though updating each item would take up a lot of time, and prices will drop and rise eventually, so they'd have to do it a lot.

Maybe they should just not put a price on it in the description? Almost every item has an incorrect price on it. It's always either overpriced or underpriced. They can still put the rarity and such, though, so you can sort of figure out how much it would be worth depending on how common it is.

I think most prices are in relation to their shop prices. Of course, some aren't, the ones you cannot buy. I'm pretty sure there is a formula for working out some sort of restock price, maybe average, as it is always different.

I'm not really much of a fan of the Estimated value of items, mainly becasue back in my days of being a New Member I always thoguht thatas what they were going for in shop prices so I jsut put what they was, god knows if I sold anythign that was worth 100's of thousand (I didn't know much about neo back then never knew there was a shop wizard) >>;

I met a New Member who got an item that's estimated value was 100k she tried to sell it for 3 weeks until I finally told her it's only worth 100np

Lol, that's why I don't pay attention to the Est. Value part xP

ye, esp codestones

est price about 400np :roflol:

I forgot where I found this, but the estmiated value has a direct relation to the cost they are in non-user shops.

Est. Value x 1.45804 = Price they stock for.

This isn't exact, but it is generally very close. I use this formula to find out whether something is worth restocking or not.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Items rarity 81+ are sold at a particular price.

r81-89, 2500 NP/est. x 1.45804, whichever is more expensive.
r90-r94, 5000 NP/est x 1.45804, whichever is more expensive.
r95-r99, 10000 NP/est x 1.45804, whichever is more expensive.
r100, unknown

It seems that it would only work for certain rarities, though. Because don't r90+ always restock at a default price or something regardless of est. value?

Yeah... The Estmated Price is how much the item is sold for at the shops. However, the price on the Shop Wiz/Trading Post may differ depending on how much the item is stocked at shops and how useful/good it is.

est price: That bugs me too. Far too many newbis have sold items too cheep because of that.

Rarity, theres nothing wrong with it

Items with R 1-100 are SOLD in the stores. If it is greater than 100, it cannot be bought in a neopets shop.
R 101 are give away items, such a Lenny C prizes and advent callender

Then it starts over, a R102 is a very common item, an r150 is still pretty common, only r190+s and r200s(hidden tower) are really rare.
