Some general bd questions

Thu Sep 22, 2005 10:47 pm

I figured this was better of as its own thread as it isn't really asking for set help, just some general help :)

I'm currently training my battle pet up with codestones after taking him off the lab ray. I'm training defense and strength equally as I'm quite keen on the idea of getting dual duty weapons. However I'm not entirely sure how you use them - if you have two good dual duty weapons (like air faerie crown and mask of coltzan for example - are those the best?) together will those serve as both attack weapons and as defense? Would I *need* any other attack/defense items if I had both? (Other than a freezer, healer and bomb I mean.) And finally, is it better to go for dual duties or to go for sword of skarsden plus shield - both as a direct comparison and as value for money?

Also, movement - I know at the moment this is pretty useless except for that one robe, but is it worth it to train it in case it is needed in the future? I mean it's only going to get more expensive to train it if I ever do need it once my level starts going up again, but on the other hand it is likely to be needed?

I only battle one player and usually just for fun or in wars so the bd isn't a top priority for me, hence why my current set is pretty lame. At the moment for attack/defense weapons I own a halo of devilpuss, tooth of terask, leaf shield and scarab rings - what's the best combo out of those?

Thanks very much for any help, I have most neopian things sussed but my battledome knowledge is, well pretty non-existant. Any help is much appreciated!

If you are training both attack and defense:

a. Get a Ghostkershield.
b. Get a Sword of Skardsen.

Then you will want some backup fire/water defensive / reflective items, such as Ubend and Reflectozap. Use the Shield + Sword to pretty much own anyone, then alter your strategy based upon if they use fire/water to overpower the shield.

Indeed, if you're planning to use two dual duty weapons it kind of loses it's meaning. If you want to attack and defense, get a seperate attack weapon and a shield. The ones mentioned above are indeed very good ones, but there's cheaper ones that are also better. Dual duty weapons are nice if you want to use them together with a freezer, healer or something else. So that you only fill one slot with attack and defense.

Problem being that I can't afford the sword of skardsen and ghostkershield :)

Okay though, actually I may was well save for them in the first place. It'll take me a while longer but I'll play some nqII to help. So my final set should have sos, ghostkershield, h4k helmet, honey potion, some reflectors...

And then I'll need to save for the jade scorchstone or hope for a scorchio healer. Thanks very much for the help, I was hoping dual duties might be a cheaper way but I'll just have to knuckle down and churn out the neopoints - should be fun :D I'll wait til after the war in the hope prices come down, would you recommend getting the h4k helmet first as it's price seems to just keep going up? I keep hearing rumours about the sos being retired though :S

I think you should go for the h4k first, since it always increases in price and it's absolutely unmissable in the battledome. SoS being retired are just rumors... maybe they're true but who knows...
The nice thing about saving money for BD weapons is that you can gradually upgrade your weapon... for instance if you buy something like the Ramtor's Spellbook first, you can use that in the BD while you continue saving money... when you have enough you can sell your Ramtor's Spellbook for the same amount or more than you bought it in the first place, since BD weapons usually only increase in price...
Same thing with the scorchstone, I'm using a Purple Scorchstone now since Jade is sooo expensive... but when I have the cash I can easily sell my purple one.
Talking about a final set, I'd replace the honey potion with a ghostkerbomb... I just bought one and it's really a blast! (hahaha okay I have no humour)
But I think with dual duty weapons you actually pay more than normal attack or defense weapons... more neopoints per attack / defense icon

To answer the movement questions from your first post, I wouldn't spend too much on training agility, since you always have faerie quests, kitchen quests and other events that increase it.

I think I'll leave movement for now until I'm at the 125 boosts and then see how far behind it is :) And increase my daily number of kitchen quests, heh.

I'll definitely save for the h4k first, I'm hoping that the price will come down a little after the war, and I'll maybe pick up a honey potion at the same time. Then I'll go for the sos then ghostkershield as their prices are more fixed - this will take a few months, hee x) But yeah I'll pass on upgrading at the moment due to the inflation, it wouldn't do much good now anyway with my little stats so I'll work on training and saving for now.

But I have nothing else to save for anyways. Thanks very much for the help guys, can't wait until I get all that stuff ^_^

Good luck training, we'll see your pet appear in the PPT top pet rankings then! (it's not yet in there now, is it?)

Thanks! And nope, not in there yet - I'll wait til he's a little less self conscious about his little stats ;) Maybe after we hit the 85 boosts in a couple of weeks time =)
