I have an account that's 52 months old, and I naïvely created it in homage to a favorite band of mine with a questionable name. I have written in the lookup that the account name isnt meant as offensive, and that even the band itself wasnt being blatantly inappropriate when they decided to call themselves what they did.
I have painted pets, including a Poogle, on that account that I really would like to take care of, but Im afraid to log on in case it brings it to someone's attention that the account exists, and they freeze it. After 52 months of it being there without a problem, I really dont think it would be too fair if they froze it, but Ive seen it happen to friends.
Id love to transfer my pets to a different spare account, but Im terrified to do pet transfers in case I lost one in the process. Especially since I dont have a fast internet connection at all. Im not attached to the account in the least, only the pets inside. Is there any way writing a letter or an email to the TNT staff could solve this, or am I doomed because of my stupidity when I was a mere 14 year old?
Any better suggestions as to what I should do?

Without knowing your username, it is hard to say, but I have a friend whose username includes the words sexybody and she's still an active member after like 3 years or something. I imagine that as long as you keep your head down and keep the explanation on your user lookup you should be allright.

Try emailing support and ask them to change the name

Meh, I didnt want to get in any trouble on this forum for typing it. Basically its a term for an act involving more than four people. The band did an awesome cover of Blue Monday, btw
Try emailing support and ask them to change the name
Ill try that. Thanks for the advice.

Hmm, you have my curiosity piqued also as to the name.
I don't think TNT will change any names, I don't know if they can - I think I remember something in an editorial saying they couldn't and wouldn't change names. Maybe way back they could, but now?
As long as this isn't your main account - the one you do dailies/play games/restock/etc. ... I'd just log in to care for the pets, check on things, keep a low profile and keep that on your lookup.
Yes, TNT has frozen accounts for "inappropriate username" and I know of two that were at least 2 to 3 years old at the time. One person was able to get the account back, but the other found no joy. Even with quite a few of us writing in. I sent a snail mail letter regarding the 2 people I knew of.
I'd never try tranferring pets - did it once and temporarily lost an unpainted, almost-nil stat pet that didn't even have a petpet. I was lucky enough to get that pet back (my first, so alot of sentimental value), but even with faster internet connections, you'll be competing with pound sitters and there's rumors that there's some sort of auto-adopt program floating around (don't know if that's true or not).

A suuggestion for the inappropriat ename. If you want to psot it here, do so in TINY font and white text so that a person must cut and paste to read it. This would protect those who do not wish to see it.

I would try writing to someone at tnt to see about the possibilty of moving your account rather than changing the name. They don't have the power to change an account name but they have in the past moved the contents of an account, pets and all, to a new account name of your choice. They don't do it often but if you write to them explaining your worries and so forth then if you get a nice person at the other end they may well do it for you too

I think you could log in, just don't talk on the Neoboards, or buy anything from a shop for over 1k, or donate to the Money tree, or create trades, or put anything in your shop, or get a high score on a game, or enter any contests...
That would be nice if TNT let us change our user names. Or transfer pets safely.
I think I know the band you mean. I have their cd.
Honestly though, I think you'll be okay as long as you don't type on the neoboards. People might mass report you there.

Not a good idea at all stamp. We catch onto those things quickly if it was quoted text since it would look like this using your example:
- Code:
*[size=7][color=white]Like this[/color][/size]*
It would indeed be removed it if it was felt to be inappropiate for this board.

My account that was created in December of 2000 got frozen because of the account name at the end of May this year. I had painted pets, rare items, and more than 2million NP.
The neopets team refused to transfer my pets or items, and didn't even respond to my inquiry if I could get ANYTHING back, even just my one favorite pet.
If I were you, neomail the neopets team asking to transfer before you get frozen, because if you get frozen, it is likely that you will get completely and utterly screwed over.

Thanks all for the advice. The account name isnt important, as I already know that its more inappropriate than something like 'sexychick' and the likes. If you're still curious, you could google the album 'Vapor Transmission.' Thats the band I mean.
I wouldnt dare use that account on the NeoBoards now, though I have in the far past. Just shows how increasingly strict theyre getting x_x Keeping a low profile isnt too tough, I was just worried that logging on might trigger something in their system, without having posted or done anything.
Anyways, I think I will email and write to them. I doubted that they could change the account name (I remember reading that in an old editorial too) but at least I could feel as though I put some effort into a solution. And maybe if Im lucky they'll toss the pets to one of my spare accounts.

This is just advice for transferring that should be able to beat pound sitters, easy, but maybe not auto pound thingies. U need 2 comps. One of yours has to have that little find the pet by typing it's name in thing, now you could do 2 things type in the name of the pet ur abandoning and wait, OR type in the name and hit enter, either works. Now on the other comp abandon the pet.
Now go back to other comp and refresh if you already hit enter or hit enter if the name is typed in and adopt, I've done this before and I didn't lose my pet. I didn't even lose my ghost korbat using the same computer AND waiting for 2 min before deciding to adopt on the other file

You can do this just as easily by using two different browsers on the same computer. You can have 2 accounts logged in at one time if you have them each on different browsers. I use IE and Netscape for this. (I really need to switch to Firefox for my main...)

Yup that's how I do it, I use firefox and opera which both have auto refreshers on them (I think firefoxes is better now though, opera has become too slow). Though due to my paranoia I also have both computers up and running with both browsers
But it doesn't help against auto adopters so for the moment I really wouldn't recommend it =)

What, "orgy"? Within the context of a name, I wouldn't think it too offensive for ppt, neopets, or anywhere really. Actually, I wouldn't expect it to be too offensive either way. It doesn't always mean what you're thinking, either. It can also be for VIOLENCE! Yay, violence!
