Lost Desert Plot

Has anyone found any connection and/or help from the symbols that light up in the actual chapters of the story and/or are they different for each person? I am getting a teacup in the very first chapter in the third box on the right hand side on a building. Its above a blue striped awning and below a green striped awning and lupe... Just curious if this goes anywhere??
