perhaps since catnip is like drugs to cats, having squishy cute petpets taking it seems funny.

Yes, I think that would be it lol. I think maybe because the way my cat reacts to it (she goes nuts) I think it's rather amusing to picture say... *thinks* well some random petpet on 'petpetnip' bouncing off the walls. Now if you wanna think of something scary, think of a Meepit on petpetnip *shudder*
