World Challenge [Split!!]

**Last Thread**: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18769

Continue talking about the World Challenge.

Some important topics that were said in the past thread, which I will copy over here for easy viewing:

FAQ BASICS
If you collect every piece of a picture, it doesn't automatically get converted. You have to click on "convert this image into a fantastic random item!"

If you have collected every piece of a picture but haven't yet converted it, and you win another hourly competition for that world, you will get a neomail saying you won but that you have already collected all the pieces, so none were awarded. This also seems to apply if you have the pieces in your inventory but not the picture itself (at least sometimes).

If you remove just one piece and then win an hourly competition, you will re-win the piece you removed. It never tries to give you pieces you already have.

Once you convert a picture, you can't remove the pieces, and you can't win any more pieces of that picture, even if you come in first in a competition or get the highest score. You're done.

Because of the above, many people will collect a full picture in the world they're good at, then trade it for another world and convert that one instead. They can then re-win the world they're good at. You can do this over and over if you want to convert every world.

** Once you pay the 100NP fee, you can submit your score as many times you wish (beyond the 3 play limit). But note that you will only earn NPs for the first 3 submitted scores.

** Don't score too high!! If your score hits the reviewed threshold, that score won't be submitted in time for that world challenge. Also realize most players probably won't submit a score that's EXTREMELY high. Take a look at past scores, see what score you need *about* to win.

(Thanks to Cranberry for the bulk of these points :))

So does that mean that if you send a high score, it will be reviewed before it is in the high score tables? Or does it only count if you are entered for the World Challenge for that hour?

Well it depends. Some games have distinct scores thresholds which puts up a red flag as a possible *cheated score*.

This'll happen no matter what, whether its for the World Challenge or the high score tables. Doesn't matter.

for people who say that ties shouldnt get maps look at this

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b366/ ... unfair.jpg

honestly, about a third my maps have been aquired thanks to ties, and i hope it hasnt changed before this is in (havent gotten a map in days)

EDIT:

i was in first place in the last minute. yet the scores disapeared and i didnt get anything. must have been a glitch

EDIT2:

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b366/ ... glitch.jpg
send my score, i was highest, a minute later i have -1. two glitches in a row?

I have to agree that the first one isn't fair, and shouldn't be done by alphabet, but by scores. If my scores are higher than yours and we both won a point, I should be higher on the list than you. That would then be fair.

It's not an error.

If you're playing near the end of the hour and you send a score at that point but it doesn't get matched during that hour, it automatically transfers to the next hour for free. For high score purposes though, it only affects the hour it was sent during.

I think the minimum scores sent in is going to be upped to keep people from playing 1 game and getting a piece +1 wins 0 losses.

That would sort of make some sense... But to do it properly, they'd have to set the score for each individual game. :)

Looks like they're getting ready to add jelly world to the mix. when you try to enter the challenge it says it's not ready yet!

This tip is from my experience, so it might be different for other people. If other people have had different scenarios please tell me..

From my experience it is better to join the challenge late in the hour. Late meaning after 35 mins. This is because the REALLY good players tend to smash everyone at the beginning and get their 3-5 wins and leave for the rest of the hour. And then at the end of the hour, it is just New Member playing. So if you are pretty good at the game, you should be able to beat the New Member.

But as I have said before, this is from my experience so it may differ from game to game

I would definatly say it differs from game to game. On my best game it tends to be newbies until about 20 past. Then the good players dominate until 15 til. Its a standard bell curve. There are more people playing during the middle of the game.

I like to come in when there are 15 minutes left and take the top score position (and sometimes one of the top 5, too), but maybe that's just me. Once I took the top score with 20 seconds left. The person who was originally there must hate me. ;)

I'm trying to complete all the maps, but it's annoying right now because the people with maps like space station and maraqua are convinced their maps are worth a lot more than tyrannia -- they all want me to add 100K to my map before they'll trade, and I refuse to do that because the chance of getting a bad prize is too high. I think I'll just wait until prices go down some more (they've already dropped by 50% since WC came out).

I have, however, converted Meridell (purple petpet paint brush), Neopia Central (faellie), Terror Mountain (split paint brush), and am waiting for my Krawk Island trade to go through. I'm also halfway through completing Faerieland on my own. And if they ever release a second set of maps, I'll be able to convert Tyrannia and move on to earning new pieces. :)

Edit: Just converted Krawk Island and got a Bearog (worth 6K). Heh. Oh well, it's not about the prizes... it's about completing the maps. But I'm glad I didn't pay 100K extra for it! ;)
