When you load the game, the blue bar at the top (where the minimize, maximise and close buttons are) shows your date of birth. Why?
Try pressing F5 a few times quickly, and it shows you the URL of the game followed by ?DOB 0000-00-00 (where 0 is your Date of Birth)
Sorry if my message is hard to understand.

The only thing I can think to attribute to this is to collect data on which age ranges use which games the most.

I think it is for security purposes, or for verification. If I'm not wrong they used to show the e-mail on that bar.

They did show the email previously, I'm not sure if they still do.
I think it's for verification, to stop people playing games on multiple accounts - most people aren't smart enough to put different DoBs.

but what if they're twins and both have an account?

They would probably register under different email addresses.

well... it's possible for one person to do that... i think twins might get frozen quicky on neopets if they only use one and the same computer...

Did you register Macromedia Shockwave in your name? It asks for your email and your D.O.B, that is whats displayed in the top bar, I think.

mizzy, it can't be Macromedia, a friend of mine uses my computer for Neo and she brought the dob in the game address to my attention. She didn't d/l flash or shockwave on this computer, I did. And no, our dob are not the same.
I think it's tracking/demographic information for sponsors. I think the other information still shows up in the address bar too - username, email. Just the dob is the first thing now.
