Yikes! Only one person has a bunch of them for 99,999, so I grabbed a few! :D

[Edit] I went to price them in the auctions and the trades...and there ARE NONE!!! :o

What's up with these!? I'm going to make a fortune!!!!!!! Finally!!! :D

This reminds me of a few weeks back when one person bought up all of the hubrid nox badges on the shop wiz and then priced them on the TP for millions in two different accounts. Then used a third account to trade for really nice things--pointing out that obviously it was valuable since two different people on the TP listed it for millions. I was so onto him. And, boy, he did not like it. Here is the thread I made about it if you are curious: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16832&highlight=hubrid+nox+badge

It's a rarity 89, for goodness sake. So, either someone bought them all up to artificially inflate the price or they suddenly became an Illusen/Jhudorah quest item.

I just got here and read your topic. I agree with Morningstar.

This false inflation thing seems to be happening about once a week or so. I would be very careful in accepting offers on trades, especially for items. And extra especially if the item being offered is allegedly worth "millions" when your trade isn't and/or you get a neomail from someone looking for said item saying they'll pay millions for it ... it seems to be multiple accounts or people working this scam together. And to me it is a scam. It also is to TNT -- artificial inflation. Just recently a couple of people were iced for this particular TP stunt.

Be careful out there!

It sounds like false inflation to me also. People have been doing this with various things lately, and it's a very very dirty way of making np. Protect yourself by always checking *both* the TP and shop wiz on trade offers, checking the rarity of the item, and if something still feels fishy insist on pure.

Often these people will try to push you to make a decision quickly so you don't have time to check out everything. Take your time, and if they withdraw so be it. You're really better off.

Another tactic used involves offering the item on the lot and having another account neomail you (coincidentally!) looking for the same item that was offered on your lot and voulenteering to pay a hefty sum for it. After you accept, this account will block you leaving you stuck with the inflated item.

Finally, if the offer seems too good to be true, it probably is. Manytimes, they send a neomail saying that they're overbidding on a lot because they need the item for a friend/relative/etc., and you could easily take the time and sell for astronomical amounts of np rather easily. If it really sells for that much, why wouldn't they have sold it in the first place?

Use common sense and be safe everyone. :)

I just checked and the 4 accounts which were being used in the hubrid nox badge scam have been frozen. Hopefully, the guy has been IP banned as well.

It seems that whenever an item gets scarce in the TP (which has nothing to do with value) somebody puts some up for 10 million and tries this same thing. I usually put the item in trades for the real price and it stops on that item.

Most common with painted petpets, it would seem ;)
