Just how long has Neopets been around? I mean, the exact date it was up and people started adopting pets. Also, what was the first pet and petpet? - Roxannegirl12345 ?
We launched the site on the 15th November 1999, although we had been working on it for a month or two before that. The first pet was a Grarrl, followed by the Scorchio. The first petpet was the Angelpuss.

The first petpets were released on the 27th September 2000.

They were the:

Greeble
Flishy
Fungree

(There were probably more, but these are the three listed on the news paage when petpets were first released)

Because, actually, the News page asn't an original feature of Neopets. At the top is says

"To keep you up to date with the ever-changing Neopets, we have decided to create a page that lists everything new that we add to the site, so you know what's going on! Keep checking this page for updates!"

So it was added after the orginal content, which would have included the angelpuss and grarrl.
