For Neopets ONLY discussion.

Mods: I didin't see an ads post on the first 2 pages, so I figured it better to not bump such an old board.
My sister just took this screenie for me. Now, she doesn't have her real age on that account, but she's still only listed at 17. Which is still a minor.

So much for only targeting those types of ads to adults.

seeing how you use firefox why not just block all the ads and you won't be offended as you won't get any more

It doesn't really offend me, nor my sister. And we're both using AdBlock, but that one just happened to slip through. My concern is for the other kids that are on Neopets and seeing things like this. And how TNT would ice you in a second for saying that, yet they allow the ads to say it rather loudly.

TNT doesn't place the ads. The service that runs them decides what to advertise.
Besides, apparently the ads are based off of cookies on YOUR computer.

I'm using ie and I don't see any bottom ads anymore. But I thought NEopets removed to bottom ads...

It's because people who can't/don't know how to block the ads will see them, specifically the younger users on the site. And that's bad.

I don't really see how that ad is all that bad. I can see why it shouldn't be on neopets as that is way hypocritical, but that kind of marketing is usually aimed at young teens. You just need to look at music videos to get that. So for people over 15 I really don't see the big deal, it's not like there was as much flesh on show as in many teeny bop pop videos. And as for the advertising of the website itself, that isn't neo's fault and the ad will only remain there for as long as people don't tell them about it. And I'm not sure any 17 year old anywhere would be shocked by that ad...
Just report the ad through the function and *poof* it shall be gone

I thought TNT didn't allow people to discuss how "hot" someone is?
Sat Apr 23, 2005 2:55 pm
maybe they need to up the age of neopet players, tho that won't work cause people will just lie about there age like they already do

I always thought the ads that appear depended on the computer... something like what Erin said. Then again, I never see ads anymore.

*sigh*
That really shouldn't be on a family site. Neopets needs to do something about the inappropriate ads immediately.
(Speaking of which, the deadline was Tuesday, and I'm sending out the sponsor letters asap.)

The ad in itself may not be that bad, but, given neopets' own standards of what is and isn't appropriate for their site, it is very bad. If they can't control their ads then they need to do away with them.

I agree I saw this ad to it is very contradictory to their standards. I think they do know what ads go throw as it is part of their procedure for permoting the site. Their fore I don't think their screening process is very efficiant as several ads ave been disturbing to me.

Yeah, on any other site, it wouldn't be so bad. But with neo's standards, i can't see how the staff can allow something like this

I saw this one about 5 minutes ago.
Just so you know, it's even more inappropriate than the one that started this whole thread....be warned.
