You can install Adblock by clicking here: http://downloads.mozdev.org/adblock/adblock-0.5-dev.xpi

I don't know an extension that removes the blank space, I'm afraid.

Firefox & Netscape

Step 1: If you don't have Firefox already, get it here. Configure it, etc.
Step 2: Download these 2 extensions in Firefox after installing the browser
AdBlock
ChromEdit
Step 3: Restart Firefox, then click on Tools - Adblock - Preferences
Step 4: Add 3 new filters:
http://images.neopets.com/buttons/*
http://images.neopets.com/728ads/*
http://images.neopets.com/ads/*
Click Add button to save them. Then click done.
Step 5: Go to Tools - Edit User Files, then click on the userContent.css tab.
Step 6: Scroll all the way to the end, then enter a new line:
#ban { display: none !important; }
Click the Save button.
Step 7: Restart Firefox and enjoy an ad-free NeoPets experience.

That is totally from NNN. :P

Well, yeah, you probably should go there.

NNN? Somebody posted it here on PPT and e-mailed it to me. I think the same person wrote the guide and posted it all over the place at about the same time (my thanks to them!)

Tyrranitar, Stampsyne is so very right about this one. That info was on PPT way before NNN was even up and running. It was posted here by a kind PPTer right after the bottom ads first started.

to get rid of ads:

Alright, well, this does require Firefox...but I have good news. I found a way to block the advertisements AND all that blank white space at the top. Follow these instructions carefully.

Step 1: If you don't have Firefox already, get it here. Configure it, etc.
Step 2: Download these 2 extensions in Firefox after installing the browser -
AdBlock 0.5.2
ChromEdit
Step 3: Restart Firefox, then click on Tools - Adblock - Preferences
Step 4: Add 3 new filters:
http://images.neopets.com/buttons/*
http://images.neopets.com/728ads/*
http://images.neopets.com/ads/*
Click Add button to save them. Then click done.
Step 5: Go to Tools - Edit User Files, then click on the userContent.css tab.
Step 6: Scroll all the way to the end, then enter a new line:
#ban { display: none !important; }
Click the Save button.
Step 7: Restart Firefox and enjoy an ad-free NeoPets experience
For IE:

Open note pad and paste the following in there:

Quote:
div.ban,div#ban {
display: none !important;
}

Then, rename the txt part of the file to css. Remeber where you put the file.

Open IE, go to Tools>Internet options>accessibility under general. Check the "format documents using style sheet" box and browse for the file you saved as css. Restart IE and you are done

To remove some of the bottom ads: if you are on firefox, right click the bottom ad and click "ad block *insert ad url here*" Do that for every ad you see and soon you should have blank spaces instead of ads.

Yup. You can get rid of ANY ad. Using the * as a wildcard (like http://media.fastclick.net*) will get rid of alla ds fromt hat source. It may take awhile to zap every source.

Wasn't that posted when the top banners first appeared? I got it to get rid of them. I had to turn it off to see the bottom banners that everybody was talking about.

The thread I gave specifically talked about the bottom ads and was posted immediately after they came out in mid-February: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=276709&highlight=#276709

And that thread talks about getting rid of the bottom ads, not just the top ads:

After doing the initial blocking of the bottom ads with FireFox, I have found it necessary to update from time to time. Because it appears that new ads with new unblocked websites are being added quite often. I have found that ones of the easier ways to get rid of those new ads is to pull up Ad-Block in the bottom right corner of the screen and block everything that doesn't have neopets.com associated with it. I do this every so often when I happen to notice a bottom ad sneak by.
