Petpets Attached in Different Languages...

Mon Mar 21, 2005 7:19 pm

Back when the Snicklebeast avatar came out, I decided to attach one to one of my pets who had no real permanent petpet. Anyway, I soon found out that he wouldn't accept it, so I attached it in Japanese. The species name remained in that language for quite some time...but today I just realized that it is now called a Snicklebeast (meaning that the language somehow turned to English while it was attached). How did that happen? :o

I'm not sure how it happens, but I had a floud I attached in Chinese, which on my pc was just 4 little boxes. Months later it too changed to the correct English name. I long ago quit wondering about oddities like that on Neopets and just accept them as the norm now.

it might have something to do with the filters they use to let us all talk to each other

I mean...people all over the world are talking to each other, haven't you noticed that hardly anyone is typing a different language than you?

They are filtering the languages to make everyone able to understand everyone else, and most likely it affects petpets attacked under different languages when they update those translators...

thats what i think anyway lol

Unless I'm mistaken, but I don't think I am... different languages have different boards. I just changed my language to Spanish to test this. I was looking at the top twenty topics... I switched quickly back over to English, and the topics were completely different. Not just in a different language, but altogether different subjects. I'm fluent in both languages, and it seems to me that whatever language you're on, is the neoboards you get.

Nope -- the Neoboard/Neomail messages you see in English are written in English.

Different languages do have different boards. If you read closely, most of the topics on the Chinese board stay there for a few days without moving.

My robot feepit wouldnt attach to my halloween acara, so I changed the page name to French and it was called "TinselatedPixel the New" for a very long time. Thanks to your post, I realized that it now shows the actual name.

I just wonder if my acara would actually take the petpet in english now?
