I was going down to this school in a nearby suburb, chilling as you do. When I arrived, I saw that the entire school was set up for a type of fair or something. I had nothing better to do, so I looked at some of the rides. The entire place was deserted so I could look around without getting any suspcious stares.
Bear with me, this story does go somewhere, and it is neo related.
I then came across one of those 'teacup rides', where you sit in a very large teacup that spins around really fast. But this one had all these different pictures painted onto it.
As I passed by, I had to do a double take on one of the teacups. I went around and saw a little Turmac staring at me. I looked at the other side and saw a Blue Bruce and Purple glert (complete with orange spots). I should've known that Neo was more popular than it seemed around here, but it still caused me a bit of a surprise to see that.
Maybe it's because Australia doesn't have as much Neo merchandise as the US, but it just seems weird to see anything Neopets related outside of a McDonalds restaurant or the actualy neopets.com site. It's just, weird.
So, this post has a meaning. First, I gotta ask whether it's even legal for that teacup to be painted with Neopets copyright pictures (I won't dob the guy in, I'm just curious) among other copyright images.
And did any of you see or hear anything Neo related that made you double-take?

Yes, recently I saw McDonalds advertising Neopets plushies on TV. That was totally weird since I have always thought of Neopets as an online game and never expected it to get on TV. Also because this is not USA, and Neopets has never been advertised on TV before.

I would think it would break copyright laws.. but i really dont' know how it is outside of the Us.. maybe they can.. sorry i am not much help
As for neopets on tv. I live in the US and i have never seen them on tv so i would be shocked too!
Soon we will have a little cartoon called My little neopets and they will talk and have adventures .. scary!!

Chances are unless the rides owner or company have received permission from Neopets to use their images it will be in breach of copyright as the images are trademarks. Although I'm not 100% sure on how cross-jurisdiction copyright works no doubt the copyright still applies in Australia or it would make the entire principle of copyright obsolete.
I've not really seen anything Neopets related here in Perth but then again, very rarely do I venture into toy-stores and I only go into McDonalds if I happen to be out and need food and there isn't something else around like The Kebab Co. (which isn't often). I suppose the whole Today Tonight thing was a bit of a suprise though.

Probably in a way breeches copyright. But if the neopets corp has brains. they will realise it's free advertising
Many traveling fairs paint known cartoon characters on their attractions also. I'm not sure wether the law would do anything about them. At least, the never bother where I am. There wouldn't be much point in wasting money to deal with it. Since it's so small a thing. Also they make money fro the rides, not the paintings on them. I've seen many with Bugs bunny and such... Part of my family that owns one had a matrix theme painting on one ride. They change it every so often...

I don't see how it's odd for it to be on TV. The sites been going for long enough...

It was odd cos I've never seen any shops selling them

I receive a coupon in my letterbox today. One of the coupon said "Bring home 8 charming neopets and neopets trading cards with any 4 breakfast sets." I guess our Mcdonald has a lot of left over neopets stuffs in their back kitchen. They are giving away two for free for each meal.
I saw our TV advertising an online game on the TV (I forgot the game).

How many online gaming websites, however old, have you ever seen being advertised on TV? I definitely would find it weird if Gunbound, Maplestory, (insert other popular online games here) etc were advertised on TV.

A few years ago, on a guide to a christmas play a school was doing, there were pictures of Scorchios.
I hadn't even heard of Neopets back then, but I noticed it when I saw another of the plays lately it still had the pictures

I guess that since it's such a small and insignificant ride, the neo suits wouldn't care very much. Although, it doesn't say 'Neopets' anywhere on the ride, I still reckon it'll be alright. I mean, who even observes copyright laws today anyway?
And yeah, I've never seen anything Neo related, other than the Maccas Promotion (and the TT story). I may have seen a few trading card sets for sale at EB Games but thats about it. It just seemed strange
The day a Neopets TV show comes out is the day I seriously start questioning whether or not I should continue playing. Neo already has enough exposure, without getting an even cuter and fluffyer image
