Mystique wrote:not that this is a particuarly new kind of scam but recently i have seen more victims and just now, i encountered a potential scammer.
as i was going abt my daily neopian activity, i suddenly receive a neomail that said:Hello. I would like to buy your yellow poogle morphing potion for 450k. Please make a seperate trade for it as soon as possible and I will offer right away. Please its a gift for my friend and I need it fast.
i quickly replied that i have set it up and separated it. almost immediately, there is a bid of 45k+a treasure from another player name. i rejected it immediately.
moments later, i received another reply:Ahh! Sorry I made an offer a couple minutes ago and it just got accepted so never mind. Sorry though!
although i can't outright label her a scammer but it is obvious enough. firstly, the response to the initial neomail and trade was set up immediately so in the meanwhile, there was no excuse to find another buyer. secondly, the bid was exactly 45k..not 1k, 1np but one less zero.
hence, there wasn't any evidence to report this person. recently, some players have fallen for this kind of scam where in their desperateness to sell an item, accept a prearranged offer immediately but realise the actual offer was much less and they got ripped off. there is no way to report them as there's little evidence and you can only kick yourself.
