Switching servers

Several other servers exist on neopets.com, including images, content, home, admin, petpages, etc. Is it illegal to use these servers? There's nothing in the TaC against accessing Neopets through those servers (They go MUCH faster than the main).

I've been told and I've read that you should not use the other servers, I would think especially admin and content. Don't know about images and home.

I can say that having had the petpages.neopets.com addy "stick" after visiting a petpage and then trying to buy something from a user shop and getting the "Oops" message, it probably isn't a good idea to use that one either.

The other servers, while "public" as far as address goes, really are for staff to use, not us. Just my 2 cents ...

I heard that a person who was restocking on the petpages.neopets sever while the site was ultra laggy was frozen. So I think it is best just to stick with the http://www.neopets.com one.

A fair while ago people were supposedly frozen for using home.neopets. I would just stick the neopets.com

I had a look through the other servers.

home.neopets is lightning quick.
so is admin.neopets

I did the petpages.com and it was pretty slow to be truthful. I don't know why people are saying it's fast.

I haven't tried content, and images is just weird.

I wouldn't use them though. TNT might see it as a form of cheating.

yeah you should stick to the usual http://www.neopets.com server...admin is illegal..someone emailed staff to ask about it too =o

Because he very rarely comes here and we have no way of making him! Also he shouldn't have to answer all our questions: that's what the support staff are for.

and how about www133, www148 etc. ?
generally there should be load-balancing and www chooses one of this numbered servers
(u can see it at the bottom of page source, something like

but sometimes manually chosen server works 10x faster than that load-balanced random one...
is it also illegal to use it? :3
and when u use anything other than www a lot of stuff does not work - all activities that check page referrer (same problem when u use some firewall privacy suite)

Sounds very risky to me, I wouldn't risk it for the speed.

but thanks to that referrer thingie u cannot take full advantage of this speed... u get "Oops!" in shops, auctions, etc

If I'm playing something like NeoQuest and the site is laggy, I'll change to a different server, eg. www130.neopets.com. That's all I'll change servers for, though.
