TNT, stop making neopets more and more like humans!! They all have human shaped bodies with neopet charactoristics! AHHHH STOP IT! :o

I was gonna say that about 10 times before and kept my mouth shut but you've got a point. All caption contests, backgrounds, cards, etc are ALL Neosapian...

yay! Im glad somebody agrees with me... im glad its you, draiknest :)

Finally, the maraqua plot came out... the king is a big fat human with a fish head. The villian looks like Johhny Depp turned into a wearwolf. I really dont like it, and I want to know if anybody agrees with me. I have realized that even though humans have taken over the plots, its officially everywhere...... thats why i put this together. Just look at this. humany neopets are everywhere on neopets.... honestly, are you guys allright with this?

Examples.... major charactors from any plot or major addition to neopets have been in human form. *clears throat*

Sloth Plot:
These ones.... i think these ones top them all....

Some of these arent as bad..... some just are standing up or have a jacket on.... these i still dislike, but really arent what im trying to point. I dont like them evolving so that they are able to function in everyday things like sports, battledoming, playing, writing, cleaning..... when they are needed to do functions, then they are put into human form... why?

And this.... this is aLLLLL current stuff. In the past, koi kings could be shaped like fish with a coat on. Pets could be on all fours. They weren't forced to wear a shirt ANd an overshirt and a coat and a belt and socks and pants and boots and a bandanna just because they were a main charactor in something. Now... look at charactors on neopets today... ALL Neo-Sapiens. It drives me nuts, it does. Now I've really pointed out how severe its gotten, and how neo-sapiens are EVERYWHERE. EVERYWHERE...... doesnt anybody else agree that this needs to be stopped? Before we are taking care of humans with scales, furr, and tails?

Image?Image

Yes, i realize neo-sapiens is gramitcally incorrect. I edited this a little so it didnt say it as much.... but its still a good term. I like it, gramatcially correct or not. ;)

EDIT: yeah, your right, too many pictures.... there used to be caption contests and backgrounds to show more, but it would murder a dail-up user... so now there are less pictures, just showing what i think is what im mostly talking about...

Inrun Edit: Stacked the images so they weren't stretching the page. *hates page stretches*

You do realize it would be "Homo Neo" not "Neo Sapien"... Neo Sapien would mean "New Wise"... even Homo-Neo would be we--- never mind.

I personally dont see what the big deal is. They are called "Experienced Neopets" meaning they are different from the Neopets we have as pets.

If they didnt "anthro" up the pets, they would be quite boring because every character would look the same. Also, just because a Kougra is drawn as a quadroped doesn't mean they can't walk on hind legs.

You should warn that this topic is IMAGE HEAVY. Holy crap...I was afraid my firefox would crash to all those images. *recently had a BAD experinced to an image overload*

I see no problem with neopets with some anthro to them. They're cartoons. Now anthro neopets like royal eyeies is where I draw the line. Somepets are just more...evolved them others, plus, without opposible thumbs, battles would be...ummm bite, slash, and mychi would be the top pet since they have real thumbs.

Long as TNT doesn't go psycho anthro and sticks to cartoony bipedal neopets, I see nothing wrong...plus, I like pets with visble legs, but not long legs...just hind legs, like how grey kyrii has.

*look sat DoN kau* I see nothing wrong with her, she's a Kau on her hind legs. Now that Aisha is bad.
Blugthak is no species, unless quiggle and quiggle are bipeadal to begin with.

and umm...since pets need to show their gender in stories, TNT does go more anthro for that as well, but the Kaiku kougra is a girl, but stand on all fours, but that's beside...the point....ok, train of thought derailed and crashed.

your right. neosapien is incorrect....... i edited it a little bit. thankyou for pointing that out ;) . So they are expirenced neopets? Even featheralley doesnt get to have a real body with a robot head...... I say, you dont have to have neopets looking like humans to make them look different. If anything, having them different shapes makes more possibilities for variations! And im not just talking about walking on hind legs... like i said, thats not the issue as much... but now, what they are really starting to do, is draw a whole suit or armour, or a coat or something, and just stick a neopet head in there with a tail or wings if necessary.... i think its going a little to far.... but see, this is just my opinion... thats why i made the thread, to see if people realized how much of it there really was, and if they agree with me or like it that way!

First off, do you think yo could perhaps cut down the picturs. It is killer on dialup. Secondly, I hope you dont mind, but I think you are taking this wayy too far. For one thing, Many neopians like Anthroness. Secondly, it is much easier for them , and makes much more sense in the plots if they are all anthro. It makes it easier for species to talk to each otrher, and makes things clearer. It also gives more of a chance to customize the character, by adding distinguishing clothing. I am going to go through the images you posted and say my opinion for each set, if you dont mind

Hannah and the Pirate Caves (and all plots hereafter):
I dont have a problem with Hannah being Anthro at all, as usuls are already anthro. Same with the mynci, which isnt particularly anthro at all. The others make sense to be anthro, and are particularly good pieces of art IMHO.

DON: I always saw DON as comic book superhero parodys, whic hdoesnt work if thety arent wearing the leotard. Again, I dont have a problem with this anthroness.

Talador and Meridell: See Hannah

Maraqua Plot: I think that this is fantastic art, which deserves to be respected, as well as the fact that Anthro just clicks better in plots. If some pets werent anthro in the plots, we would have acarastalking to grarrls, and the acaras face facing the belly of the Grarrl. Having to have a pet look up constantly is not good for plots.

Sloth: How can you say Sloth is an anthro pet? First off, he is one of the first Characters from TNT, and he has NEVER tried to be a puny neopet. I think TNT has made it clear that he is of a different race. As for the rest of the Anthro, look at it this way. It is a futuristic space world. Animals evolve.

NQ2: Same with plots

Royal: How can you say that all royal pets are antyhro badness. Look at the Uni! And I would be willing to bet the royal pets would look a lot worse if they were on all fours in their dress clothing. Not to mention I still object to your idea of TNT antrhosizing the altready anthro USUL!

Game Pictures: These are games, and are nto meant to be the way neopets really are. If a human could fire lasers out of his eyes in a video game, does that mean that it is saying all humans, or any humans can? Whati f they had green skin? I think it is the same principal.

Shopkeepers: I see shopkeepers as being better anthro, then being in clothing on all fours. It makes more sense.

Caption Contests: The only Overly anthrones i see in these is the table tennis playing ixi. I see the other pets as not being anthro at all for the most part.

The tcgs arwe not meant to be what neopets are also. They are historical figurwesd in neopets, and I se ethem as TNT's Tall Tales. They are meant to be like our mythalogical figures. Once again, Yurbles, Quiggles, and Grarrls already stand on their feet!

I think you are just blowing this tiny matter way out of porportion.

Fri Feb 11, 2005 3:53 am

i dont feel like reading all the posts that were stretched out...

but to start it out: i'll agree. there's too many humanshaped pets... though of course the Chia, Grarrl, Yurble, etc were born humanshape, so that doesn't matter much.

and lastly (that was quick): its probably the art gallery that motivated tnt to making humanshaped pets :o

edit: ah much better!

Heh ^_^ my bad... I started the whole "neosapien" term (except I spelled it wrong) It seemed like a good word to use but I guess not... second, although I do agree there needs to be SOME kind of individuality... sometimes they push it...

Fri Feb 11, 2005 3:55 am

illuen....

(so i dont have to quote all of that)

yeah, i did post too many images, but i wanted to show how they were everywhere! It was really those tennis playing ones that made me add the captions.... as well as that one with neopets with belts climbing trees!

and ive said this before... i HIGHLY respect the art... i LOOOOOVE the art! I think its awesome! All im saying is, i wish they would make a lesser ammount of neopets that have feet, shins, kneecaps, thigh, waist, chest, arms, elbows, and all that jazz... until finally, there is a neopet head. I think those maraqua pictures are amazing... i can only hope to someday make art like that! I just liked how the older king looked to this one, for example:
Image

yeah, some pets, like usuls, quiggles, kyris, are somewhat anthro allready.....

but im saying is that in the end, the whole shape of the body is lierally like a human, unless its say, a mynci, or kacheek, so they make them a little stubbier or something..... but then they stick laser guns in their fingers that they have instead of big paws, and the run around in secret agent poses and.. ugh. I just dont like it, thats all. my opinion. :)

no, its not a bad :) its a good word to use, its just gramatically incorrect! We like, use like all the time, but its like, not proper. So is "and stuff like that" or gonna hafta wanna cuz. there all good words :)

But thats what im trying to say.... sure, sometimes making chactors a little more believable is necesarry.... but having a whole guild of them..... and... bori miners... why cant they be like normal boris? I think that was unneccesary what they did with them.... at least dont give them the whole figure with a bori head..... whatever. im tired. :P

EDIT: whoops... i didnt mean to double post, and i was going to fix it, but somebody posted before i got to delete this and edit my last post... sorry forum-key holders!

I respect your opinion, and I will agree that some of the anthro art is ghastly, and I canty stand it, but I can understand why they have anthro pets.

Are you saying all anthro art is ghastly? Or just some of it?

*blinks*

Anyways. I think that... I don't have a problem with it. The majority of the neopets art that is Anthro, is pretty darn cool. The sites evolving, as are the users, and keeping them... well... too pet-ish would (IMO) take away from the idea of being able to war, and interact and such.

thats what im trying to understand... IS why... can you explain it? because as far as i can tell, its just to make the charactors more believable, or so they are easier to write/create, because it doesnt require as much thinking, and then dont have to worry about where to put the laser gun on a 4-footed creature. Im not saying they are lazy, because obviously they arent :) I just think that with all the battledome weapons there are, and since ANYTHING is possible in neopia.... *its a world filled with magic and wierd contraptions..* i figure..... they could figure out a way to work around it... thats why you never really see kikos, jubjubs, or unis in plots.... EXCEPT you see unis when they want a "horse" look... *like they did in meridell....* and they used the kiko as a pirate once, but back then, they didnt use anthro... they just made a evil floating skeleton kiko! And that was cool! I think its much cooler than old scarblade. :D

youve gotta admit... the pirate AND koi king in this movie are so much cooler :P

I dont think they are looking human.. other than the fact that they stand errect. I do find it disturbing that they wear clothes. Doesnt that mean alll of our pets are wel... you know :D .... if important plot pets are allowed to wear clothes... my pet should be too :D

Fri Feb 11, 2005 4:25 am

I always thought there were two kinds of Neopets, the Humanlike ones ,that run Neopia and do all that doodad. And the wild ones, the ones we own, and are used as animals/pets. (Unis/Moehogs for horses, etc.) I dont mind it being human like though.

This is one of my favorite Anthros.

Well, not only Dr. Sloth but also the Grundos (mutated or otherwise) have always been humanoid, so I don't think it's fair to include them in the complaint.

For the others, a reply in the just-up (so far as I know) editorial touches on this:

The villian looks like Johhny Depp turned into a wearwolf

Wow...that would be really cool...
Personally I like the anthropomorphic pets but that's probably because I'm a bit biased considering I'm an anthro artist myself. But I think the plots TNT thinks up do seem to require anthropomorphized pets really. Can a neopet carry a sword in a paw while it shuffles across the ground on 3 legs? They need hands, and fully functional hands generally means 2 legged movement. I think if we want more animal-like neopets, we'd have to change the plot to something more lion-kingesque. Some neopets are more human than others (honestly, don't compare Image with Image) but I'm seeing a trend when it comes to how human TNT makes a character. The more powerful a neopet, the more human it tends to be. I don't know if that's supposed to be good or bad, but it kind of gives you some insight into what they're doing (just don't ask me why). But as for anthropomorphizing neopets in general, I think complaining about it seems about as good as complaining about the slightly human forms of the Rescue Rangers or Bugs Bunny.
