Who is copying who?

Fri Feb 04, 2005 7:59 pm

I was going down the toy aisle at wallmart yesterday and I spotted Darigan. Well at first I thought it was Darigan, it looked just exactly like him, but it was a toy from Batman called Man Bat.
Here is a picture

This one isn't the same as the one I saw at the store. The one I saw at the store was more skinny and had lighter skin. The colors were nearly identical to the bat thing we had in the last plot.

You can probably google him.

So who came first, Man Bat or Darigan? I think this guy is new because I've never seen him before, but I don't know much about comics. He could be really old and they want to revive him with younger kids. I don't know. He looked just like Darigan when he was in his bat thing form, all skinny and ragged. The colors of the skin and ears were nearly identical. So are they copying neopets are are neopets copying them?

it has wings, thats all i see.
besides, Darigan (see, capitalised name, proper respect there) is far cooler than pretty much anything marvel ever did (its a heroclix right?)
on a side note, i want Darigan themed furniture, Kass got a load afterall.

Wow, they DO look similar. Hmm. Surely neo wouldn't just rip off someone else's work though?? Must be risky copyright wise.

Tell me it doesn't look at all like darigan in his skinny form...

Answer? None of the above...they're BOTH copying Bat Boy.

Man Bat came first (I remember seeing the episodes in BTAS with the character but I'm sure the creature came even before that) .... the similarites are superficial however (you can only do so much with a humanoid bat creature)

Don't see that much of a resemblance.
Man-Bat has been in the Batman comics for about 20 years I think

I can sort of see itand for the record DC comicss does Batman not Marvel

I'm just saying that if neopets copyed Darigan from the Man bat, they made him purple and that pale color and everything. It is the same colors and all that.

Who said Marvel did Batman?

They are similiar, but there have been many bat humanoids in comics and cartoons in past history. There's only so much difference you can make if you want to have a creature that looks like a bat and walks on two legs. ;) I believe there were bat humanoid creatures in one of the old, original Space Ghost cartoons and that was a *long* time ago as well as Scooby Doo. ;)

I remember the Batman episode with Man-Bat. That was very cool. ;)

pffft, there were humanoid bats in transformers (some of the spawn of cybertron were humanoid bats, as were several trnsformers themselves, dont remember the name mind)

I dont think they're THAT similar...

And Darigan was way cooler than that Action Figure thingy. :P

if there was any copying, it would be done by neopets. but im sure there is no copying.... they aren't that similar.... just HOW different can you get with man-bats? *darigan is kind of a man bat.... since all the main charactors these days are shaped like HUMANS! *ugh.. which realllly bugs me* but man-bat has been around forever. before neopets existed. I think. At least it was around when I used to watch the old bat man and robin cartoons..... when I was around 7. :)
