Scam e-mail, FAKE LOGIN. Users Beware!

I received an e-mail today from a "Neopets Security Team" from mailto:NeopetsSecurityteam@neopets.com. (I don't know how they got that .com bit on their e-mail, but it scares me.
Anyway, The message was basically this:
The link was a link to a website not based in neopets, but based in CETL.org/uploads and then a fake login.
BEWARE. How should I warn neopets about this??

To keep your account from being frozen and/or deleted simply verify that
you would like your account to remain open by clicking here. (LINK REMOVED)
Please verify your account now.
Once you have verified your accout your Neopets gaming won't
be interrupted and will continue as normal.

This looks just like the scam from supposed Paypal and Citibank emails. Wonder if it's the same person?

Wow the scammers are running amuck today .. 3 new forms of email scams today! 
The best thing is just send the whole thing to Neo, hopefully they can track these peeps down.

I saw a similar one for ebay. Really authentic looking. When you look at the url, it says ebay, but whne you click it takes you elsewhere and asks for credit card info.
I just reminded myself that both places woudl NEVER ask for your password or other personal info in an email. ALWAYS type int he address directly yourself. Scammers can make e-mail look like it is FROM an official server, but they cannot make the web url look like it!

Im not enterily sure how but I know its possible to send emails from and email without having that email. You know on like greeting cards, you stick in your email adress in name, but could stick in mailto:bob@microsoft.com and nothing would stop you. They probably did something like that to send the message

yeah, spoofing email addresses is a common spammer tactic these days, it seems. just the other day i got an email from myself claiming if i clicked on some link i could refinance my morgage or somesuch.

Boy, Scammers are on a roll lately. REally desperate people, aren't they? 
Don't Neopets Premium users have the email address @neopets.com, or is it different? If it is that, they really need to change it because its making it too easy for scammers.

I got the exact same e-mail only from someone with verify.neopets.com for the second part of their e-mail. It was odd, but since I've been on my account every day and it said I wasn't being active on it, I knew it must've been a scam so I didn't bother going to the links.
It's sort of freaky though ...

Heh. Scammers arent getting smarter. They`re just using stupid New Member tactics to cheat there way through an virtual site.

I was going to say the same thing. It seems like there has been a lot more scams floating around lately... Luckily I haven't gotten any funny emails lately.

Important Newsflash - There are two new scams going around where people are sending emails that appear to be from mailto:donations@neopets.com and mailto:verify@security.neopets.com. These are frauds.
We will never ask for donations from our players, nor will we ever ask our users for their passwords. If you receive any such emails, please report them here including the header information of the sender where possible.
