Actually, they are quite a bother. They leave cookie crumbs all over my computer and huge temp files. If I don't delete my temp files and cookies about every hour, I get a very slow-loading computer. And, there has been many a time when my page freezes up altogether and my only option is to close that window and open a new one. Which, at times, can be a royal pain in the patoot. And, twice I have gotten a pop-up while on Neopets that came from one of the advertisers at the top. And, I know it was from Neopets because I run McAfee, Ada-Ware, and Pest Patrol before and after I go to the Neopets site.
I don't mind the ads and realize that you need ads to run the website, but I don't like the fact that they leave their "droppings" everywhere.

And on weekends I always get script errors on every page on Neo.. from where the ads dont load & what not. -.- It shows up blank. I had premium neopets.. but I got suspended due to the credit card being changed. Im still debating on if I should go back to it or not.. at this rate, I probably am. >.>

I understand that Neopets needs ads to pay for a free service but at peak times it really slows down my computer (:

I agree with that, Im fed up with having to delete my cookies and clear my cache so much because it takes 5 minutes for a page to load!
I can block the ads if I want to, but it seems I can't do anything to prevent them from installing what ever they like on my computer. I probably wouldnt even bother blocking the ads if they were all family friendly, I know that you only get the more questionable ads on an 'adult' account but I still have 2 kids in my house who can see those ads whenever I am on Neopets, even if they don't get it on their accounts.

If you use IE, you can block the ads you know.. well, stop them from showing up. They still load... but yeah..
- Code:
div.ban,div#ban {
display: none !important;
}
Use notepad and save that as neopets.css or anything you want to use. (Make sure when you try to save, where it says "Save as type:" put "All Files")
Then open IE, go to Tools --> Internet Options... --> Accessibility ---> User Style Sheet

Well, I refresh on the shop wiz a lot (that's an understatement) and don't play flash games very much--so maybe I just get more ads than you.
Also, I don't know your age, but I do know that, as an adult, I get a ton more non-Neo ads on the top banner than my daughter does. So, maybe that has something to do with it.

I'm a semi computer pro 23, and I go everywhere on neopets, refeshing tons of time, and I', multi tasking like here, and on some other sites, lol. Maybe my comp slightly faster or something not getting tons of cookie on, lol.

I dont mind the ads -TOO- much. Although it is quite annoying that I have to scroll down to see the whole Neoquest screen now. I didnt have to scroll down before they implemented the ads.

Frankly, I'm torn about the ads on Neopets...I recognize that costs must be covered, and this is the single best way to do it that the internet has discovered.
But I wish that Neopets had better policing of their sponsors. The sponsors are forbidden from creating popup ads and from using spyware - but they do it anyway. I wonder if maybe TNT needs to find another staffer whose job would be to approve ads for use on the site, and then the team could really know what the sponsors put up and what they don't.

I realize why Neopets needs the ads, and it doesn't really bother me to see them on the page. It just bothers me that I have to run my scans more often now because of cookies, etc. However it isn't a HUGE deal to run adaware before I get off the comp every night.

Well speaking as a partly train computer geek, You really only need to run that once a week, also Spy where will come on your comp, the only way to stop it is not going online. If you run your spyware program, twice in a row, chances are you'll find spywhere both time. Most of the spyware, if any getting from neo ad, are no more then a watcher to site you been to. Kinda like the little card to get deals at the groercy store, lol.
