Neopets, a pound alternative?

Sat Jan 29, 2005 10:24 pm

No i'm not talking about a weight watchers plan, i'm talking about the adoption/transfer strife in neopia. As you have noticed there is a major problem with leaving a pet in a pound and then a person snatching it before you can pick it up in another account. Perhaps they could make a reserve feature that says "reserve for: *enter in username* for 24 hours"? Like maybe an additional fee?

The problem with that is that it would lead to people paying for Neopets, which TNT does not want to happen. I know many people probably pay for Neopets now, but that business would increase so much if there was a better way to transfer pets.

i think they ment an additional amount of neopoints that will be added on to the regular 250NP abandenment fee.

I think

I would absolutely love to see that go through, as I have two spare accounts that I'd like to completely switch the pets that go on each account (i.e. favorite spare pets go to my favorite spare account, I'm weird, I know). But as it is, the pound is overcrowded with pets and this would double-triple-quadruple the problem. Maybe a separate facility for this? Completely separate from the pound, maybe really an adoption agency, where the owner puts up the pet, and people request, and the owner accepts. That way day-old newbies and pound sitters don't grab the best pets then leave them to rot. Or the reserved for thing works lol, but I just see it being really messy if this feature was added to the pound itself. You'd search and search for pets at random, and only every 10th pet would be one that wasn't reserved.
Ok, I'm getting excited, TNT GET TO IT! Pretty please? :battar:

people could also put random names in the reserved thing. It would be kinda annoying to see a dozen pets all reserved for the same person

Personally i'd love something like that, it would make getting pet avatars so much easier too!

But as someone has said people would be selling their neopets and for that reason neopets are unlikely to do this... shame though :(

The problem with it is, TNT well be able to see the cheating parts of it. Also people make making pets just for the pet avatar, then giving the pets away. Or people can train pets on a spare account, then making it easier for them to move it.

The person pounding the pet would put in the reserved thing, and its only for like 24 hours. Even 1 hour would be nice. Anywho, dont think it would be -TOO- much of a problem as you are only allowed to pound 1 pet/day.

I would like to see this idea go through though..

Some can always write the question into the newspaper, but They are more worried about the cheating property for it. I would be to i guess.

I'd like to be able to automatically xfer pets between accounts with the same email address. You can have a max of 5 accounts on your email address. They're all your pets, you should be able to move them into your main active account as you see fit.

The biggest worry here is if you get scammed, because thent he scammer can move your pet from your account to theirs. Whilst this may not be aproblem for famous people, most of us lesser-knowns will not get our pets back.

Could you not just simply see who the pets going to if it said "reserved for scammer24"

The official word from Support (in a response to a completely irrelevant question, but that's beside the point..)

Thanks for your report. However, the transferring of your pet is your responsibility. If you choose to move your pet from one account to another and someone else adopts it, that is the risk that goes along with moving a pet. We cannot be responsible for returning your pet, because someone else already paid for it and it would not be fair to take it away from them. You should write to the person who has your pet and explain your situation, but please be nice in your neomails!

The main issue here is that TNT discourages players from transferring pets, and I can see the reason for that. Transferring pets to another account can give you unfair advantages, such as during kitchen and faerie quests and such, where you can ensure the pet you want is blessed.

IMO, if you don't want a pet anymore, just abandon it and get over with it. There seriously is no need caring about who gets it after you, since if you wanted to abandon it in the first place it must be rather unimportant to you.
