war prizes. >:-( (Cont., Split #2)

Sat Jan 29, 2005 1:07 am

Previous thread: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12963

I'm not sure how they awarded prizes, if it was on the spread of points or what, but I think it would have been better if they took the point group the most people were in and used that as the middle. Then work up and down from there. It seems like most people got the booby prize and that's just ridiculous.

I don't see what was so wrong with the usual 1-500, 500-999, 1K-to whatever groupings that they used before.
As I stated before, there were what, 4 times as many (different) prizes given out in the first Meridell War? o.O
Slacky, Slacky, Slack.

Exactly. TNT is Slacking off and getting loads o' cash from the banner ads they 'had no control of' (although they didn't have control, so I blame doug for the whole thing, maybe this is a sinister plan to close neopets so doug can go broke xD)

I wish I had participated in the last war, twas half over when I joined over a yer ago, had no iea what was going on :S oh well...

Yeah, 4999 war points is like 200 strength points, 12 full hours of battling and 10 million np in weapons away from 0 war points. That they should get the same prize is illogical and inconceivable by anyone except TNT.

This was probably posted in the previous split, but...

The way this war was organised didn't totally please us either. We are working on a new way to make it fairer for everyone so people with higher level pets can't get massive amounts of points but repeatedly beating the little guys. The next plot will most probably not have a war, but the one after will and this new system of working out points for the battle will be in place then. That way we can be more precise with giving out prizes and such.

That infuriates me even more. "The way this war was organised didn't totally please us either." WELL DUH YOU FREAKING IDIOTS, then why didn't you at least try to fix it by giving us decent war prizes??

"We are working on a new way to make it fairer for everyone so people with higher level pets can't get massive amounts of points (by) repeatedly beating the little guys."

Stupid. Just flat out stupid. So basically, people with weaker pets are allowed to battle weak pets and push their score to 2000 by ones, whereas intermediate pets have to push their score by 100s, and only make it to 2000 because that's as far as they can go, and strong pets are the only ones who can make it very far. Um, DUH? The intermediate battlers and beginner battlers will wind up with the same points, and you'll have a repeat of this war's ultimate stupidity. Once again, only the strong experienced battlers win out.

I can't believe how ignorant TNT is.

My question when I read that quote in the Editorial was, "If it didn't please you either, why did you go ahead with it in the first place? Surely they didn't just leave it up to a single team member and it was released without anyone else knowing or having a say in it. They must have had a say in it prior to the prizes actually being given out!"

Well, the war started off bad.
I think everyone agrees there.
Then, the thieves got jipped. Not by much, but still...
The lateness of the prizes was exceeded only by their lameness. :P
Also, each team got the same prizes.
What the heck?
Then, the prize to point ratio was horrid.
Yep. Let's see what went "right" this war.

My opinion is that the prizes were meant as mere tokens of appeasement, and were not meant to be really rewarding, due to the unfairness of the war.

As for the editorial entry, I think that was rather stupid also. They should get someone better to plan and run the war than sit back and say "oh, we didn't like how it was run, but we couldn't be bothered to intervene."

The issue of stronger battlers beating weak opponents repeatedly is not an issue either, since strong pets are supposed to gain more points. Not to mention that the weaker opponents do get more and more difficult and soon it is just too difficult and time-consuming to keep fighting them. There really wasn't any need to change that by introducing diseases or whatnot.

go to idb everyone
it says that there were other weapons given out :(

Thought I'd have a say in this *munches on a grape*.

*stops munching*

*swallows*

*coughs*

ahem...

WHAT THE HECK DO TNT THINK THEY'RE DOING?

I mean, I like a lot of the things they do, and I dislike a lot of the things they do, but their idea of making the war fairer for weaker pets is completely pointless. What is the point of spending millions of neopoints training your pet if a newbie is able to get near to as many points as you?

The strong should get the praise they deserve. They deserve to have 50k+ points.

I've got a pet on 55 strength and defence boost, level 40 and 65 HP. Do I consider myself well off? Hell no. I look at the strong battlers with an almost envy, but at the same time, that envy gives me a goal to shoot for. If everything was 'fair', then there would be no point to training. Maybe I should just stop training now. I mean if a 55 boost pet can get as many points as Majal_kita, whats the point of training any more?

Leave the wars as they are, because only the newest of newbies and the weakest of battlers can find a reason to complain. We're al lon equal footing here when it comes to wars. We all (should) get similar opponents and no team should have an advantage over the other. The moment you start doing otherwise, you'll get complaints.

i think that the people who spent years on end leveling their pets stats and buying the best weapons should get the bettter prizes, it just makes sense, they spent tons and tons of money and should be rewarded for the amount of points they got. I think that the newbies and people that didn't get that many points shouldn't be getting the same amount of points, or the same prize mind you, as those who spent the money and sat there for hours battling.

Sat Jan 29, 2005 3:36 pm

i tried to battle and spent more then last war and got double + 7 points I think and got a worse prize! CURSE YOU TNT! You are TNT YOU ARE DYNAMITE EXPLODE AND MAKE SOMETHING GOOD FOR ONCE!

I usually don't harp on The Neopets Team when they mess certain things up, but I do applaud when people can live up to mistakes, the question in the editorial is really, really, dissapointing. It was clearly asking why the difference in effort was not viewed as important, not prize distribution or whether thats fair or not.

I agree whole heartedly with a lot of the points provided on these past threads(what is this, 23 pages thus far?). I'm just let down that they can't just say "Yeah, you put effort in, but 4000 points isn't that much"

eh, just a game.

AC/DC never said that:P
