Whoa... what a strange coincidence... Movie plots

Wed Dec 29, 2004 7:54 pm

I was venting my frustrations about the latest plots and how they are comic style based instead of flash movies and how it seems like less time and effort goes into making comics even though they are very well drawn. Well anyway, I go onto Neopets today and find this poll:

Do you prefer the comic style plots over the Flash movie ones? (Poll No. 360) Here are the results so far (out of a total 42352 votes) :

Comic! : 13,908 (32.84%)
Flash! : 11,828 (27.93%)
Dont Read Plots : 5,803 (13.70%)
Huh? : 10,809 (25.52%)

I guess I'm in the minority but if you agree with me then cast your vote for FLASH! and hopefully we'll see a return to movie plots such as this abandoned part of the maraqua plot:

Or this which is the best of both worlds containing both quality illustration and great animation. After seeing this quality piece it makes comic strips look like a POC!

I think the polls are rigged... For exapmple, tehy choose to do comic strips and make the polls look like that's what people want so people can't really get mad about comic strips without being in the minority... I personally like movies better! :D

Ok... but on the topic at hand I think animations are more impressive than rinkydink comic strips :)

Honestly, I prefer comic plots. They're just more well done than the flash movie plots. The movies usually run too slow for me too *shrug*

I really like the flash one. More than the comic style. The flash oen was like seeing a movie, it was more fun that putting a mouse over each part.

I agree. It's kinda dumb too when you go to the page you can see the whole strip until you pass your mouse over it when the whole thing turns black. And the comic book style is just irritating.

The flash ones lag on old computers but they look way better. The comics are annoying if you don't notice one of the boxes

I prefer comic plots because they are easier for the staff to make, which means they won't quit halfway through. I actually like the flash better but if it takes too long to make they might give up and scrap it or it takes forever for the next part.

I enjoy comic plots more because:

(a.) the staff can make them faster, which means the plots come out sooner
(b.) you read/look at them at your own pace
(c.) I think serious flash stuff (like Neopets serious stuff, not funny stuff) is sort of dumb

I have to say that I prefer the comic style plots, purely because my old computer used to be very slooooow and any flash movies would cause it to freeze or go bananas!

I would at least appreciate them cutting the comic style down in size (length wise) because if the captio bubbles go above my screen and I have to scroll I often lose the mouseover.

The flash plots looked really hokey and dorky. The comic plots are MUCH cooler, and they don't take 35896328956 years to load. This way, they can focus on the exceptional artwork instead of just cranking out a substandard animation.

Like in the last plot, BoM, was better, since they mixed both comic and animation! And that animation was awsomely cool!

It'll be nice if TNT made comic strips to save time for a really really cool flash movie!

The movies are just as big, filesize wise, as the comic strips so I don't see how loading time is an issue.

I'd be happy if they mix the two... the Battle For Meridell had 10 comic strips and 3 flash movies. If they'd even that out a bit more maybe 7 comic strips and 6 animations (the ending HAS to be animation though) I'd be content :) Even an 8:5 comicbook strip to movie ratio I'd be happy. Point is movies look more professional.

I can't imagine a shareholders meeting that they'd show the comic strips over the quality animations...

I personally prefer the comic style, it's less hassle for loading, and i get bored easily if im just sitting watching a clip on the computer.. and its fun to highlight the little comic peices XD
