The Home Remedies Topic

Got an issue? Here, you propose ideas or solutions regarding very particular or widespread problems. For example:

Freezing:
Make sure you DIDN'T actually do anything wrong
Send a paper letter
or
Send e-mails to particular staff members

Garlic Bread Inflation
Buy a leek and change your language to Portuguese, then eat it :) (Pimboli)

The reason I'm making this topic is because there's a lot of good advice on these boards that go unsaid or put in topics that grow too big to look through or die out. Some topics have been discussed to death, as well, though not necessarily presenting possible solutions- This topic is for those solutions to be posted on. If you have a source from which you got a solution, it might also be wise to give credit where it is due using parenthesis and so on.

Be advised- not all home remedies work very well

Is it safe to errmm, use the leek method? I don't think TNT will care, but I'm not in the mood to risk my 13 month old account just to save a few thousand neopoints.

Precisely. The fact that it's clearly only meant to be garlic items that give the av, and the fact that you have to go a dodgy way (changing your language to portuguese) should alert people to the fact that it is clearly abusing a glitch, and as we all know, they freeze for that.

I wouldn't recommend it. Just wait for garlic prices to fall.

It isn't really a glitch; as people have said before, "leek" and "garlic" are the same in Portuguese. Therefore, you acquire the avatar by consuming an item with the word "garlic" in it, and hence get the avatar through a cheaper and more practical method.

yeah, it's not like the news said "eat something with the word 'garlic' to get this avatar!" and then everyone found a way around it. we were never told how to get the av. it's something you have to figure out, like a puzzle. if the answer to the puzzle involves changing the language, then so be it.

:x I can't change my language or country

I have to agree - they never said that the only way to get the av was to eat an item with the word garlic. They left it up to us to find out how to earn it.

Oh yes, I have advice! Are you one of those people who thought 'new" was a cool name for a petpet? Well, if you change your language to french, the Snicklebeast is still a "new"! So if you equip it in french, it stays a new! I just discovered this by experimenting with something and was soo happy! =D You can do this kind of thing with lots of petpets... change the language so your petpet has a foreign name then equip it under the foreign name then change back to english and it stays foreign! :D

Hm... I'm wondering if theres a way to battle normal challengers during the war? I want my black pteri avitar!! If there's a way, I'd appreciate it! :D

There is changing the javascript tag at the top of the page; I'm not sure how exactly how to do that. I think you change the URL to

"javascript:makeoneplayerchallenge(number of challenger goes here, for example, 16 is the Chia Clown.)" without the quotes (and changing the words inside the parenthesis to a number).

I have a question: How often should I re-send frozen forms or paper letters, or if I do a direct e-mail, where should I send it?
