Secret Avatars: Instant Addiction?

I don't know about any of you guys, but when I first found out about secret avatars, I wasn't very amused. Now that I see a new avatar update almost everday, I'm rummaging around trying to collect every one I can. I've wasted over 500k in neopoints already just to get avatars, and I'm saving up for more! The strange thing is... I rarely go to the neoboards, but yet, I still want to collect.
Maybe it's another chance for me to be better then some at? Maybe I subconciously hope for that shiny avatar collecter's trophy... Or maybe, I'm under some kind of spell. I don't know what it is that has me drawn to the avatars, but I just can't stop trying to collect.
What do you think? Are they pointless, or are you too collecting them all?

Both. They ARE pointless, and I AM addicted to collecting them! I don't know why, either. I'm certainly not going for the trophy, I've only got 30 av's. I don't shell out alot of money, but I've been known to buy horrid looking petpets *coughcoughslorgcough* to get one.

I have 40avatars, and I'm desperately trying to get my bionic cybunny one from NQ2. I'm close, really. Neopets isn't cooperating though. Pft.

I agree. They aren't of much use to me, since I seldom go to the Neoboards, but collecting them makes your lookup look better, and I'm sure one will feel a sense of accomplishment(especially if he's/she's an avid avatar collector).
I'm not an avid avatar collector though, I've got only 41 avatars.
