My Gaberalla account was frozen

Sun Dec 05, 2004 5:50 pm

i am not to happy about this to say the least. I was frozen for malti account to earn neopoints. I had a gallery account that was frozen also for this. Which I never ever did make neopoints in my gallery account. On the same day 3 of my friends end up frozen for the exact same thing.

If you give items to your friends for no reason at all, just to do it, does neo decide to freeze your account?

I have been playing on neo for almost 2 years. I am not at all happy about this. Nor am I happy that I will have to start over again.

Is it even worth the trouble if I got frozen cause of friends. If we are not aloud to give gifts to friends then they need to not let us but not by freezing people. A warning is needed if that is the issue.

Everybody at the cyber cafe where I played got frozen. I am sorry this happened to you. It really hurts. I wrote e-mails and letters, but ultimately I accepted an account from a friend and am making it my own.

What I do not understand is why they would say I had malti accounts to gain NP's. It just does not make any sence to me what so ever.

What stinks is about 20 minutes before I was frozzen I just got done beating neoquest 2 on evil mode. That is what is the pain right now...

Hmmmm, sorry to hear that. I only have 1 account and play on 1 computer. My only advice is have only 1 account in the future :)

But the thing is neopets rules state that you can have up to 5 accounts, only making neopoints on one of them. I was not braking any rules, inless giving gifts to friends is against the rules.

If it is I would really like to know.

giving gifts is not against the rules, i'm so sorry you guys got frozen. did you all use the same computer at any point? i hope this will get sorted out :(

Sun Dec 05, 2004 6:44 pm

Oh no :(

As far as I know, we are allowed to use shops, tp and auctions on other accounts to sell things as long as the np stays in those accounts. It's that or be sending np through the tp from your main to support those accounts (gallery/shop upgrades, food, toys, etc.).

Now, you say your friends were frozen too? Did you all send things to each other using the "send to neofriend" and were you using the same computer or a public computer (with same IP)? I have seen people on the same computer frozen for sending a gift via send to neofriend.

That's the only thing I can think of - TNT saw the same IP, saw that items (especially if expensive) were being sent to main accounts from other main accounts via send to neofriend.

You would think, especially given the time of year and that people DO want to gift their friends, that they wouldn't be so fast to assume someone's trying to pull a fast one. Especially if you've had a long-standing account.

This sound similar to something that happened a few months back to Hollypop. A friend had given her items. Later, his account was frozen for using an automated program and at the same time, her account was frozen also. My guess is that Neopets thought that he had owned both accounts because he had been giving items to it.

So, that might be what happened in this case. Perhaps, one of your friends did something really bad--like visiting the advent calendar on multiple accounts. Because you had been giving/receiving gifts from the friend, Neo might have associated your accounts with the accounts of your friend--thinking that the friend owned all of the accounts.

Oh no. That's not good. Thanks for the warning though, I've sent a few items from another account of mine. Try e-mailing TNT. I doubt you'll get a reply, but just try.

You just beat NQ II in Evil Mode? Ouch.

*sigh* It's always a bummer to be frozen. Starting over takes time, and often people leave because of being frozen. But I say, hang in there kiddo! Do the best you can, give it all you've got it. If you could have done good before, you can do it again. ;)

There's something in the T&C that I don't think used to be there. Here's the whole thing, and I've added what I think is newer in bold:

5. If you cheat on Neopets games or use cheat programs, including non-Neopets software or programs, to play the games we will freeze your account. In addition, NeoPets may freeze any other account that has directly or indirectly benefited from the use of such programs.

In other words, if someone does cheat (use AB'er, whatever), you don't know about it - but that person sends you something or you buy something from them - shop, auction, TP ... YOU can now be frozen for what someone else did wrong :o

Now I know your account wasn't frozen for "Cheating", it was for multi accounts. We still don't know if you and your friends all played on either a) the same computer or b) a networked (school, etc.) computer with the same IP. We also don't know if you used the "Send to Neofriend" option to send gifts to one another, how many items you sent and the np value of the items.

Most of the time, people can send things to each other, even on the same computer. But more expensive items seem to really cause problems. I've seen it happen before. I think (and hope) the Trading Post is a better way to send someone something or to send items between accounts (main to secondary or secondary to main) ... and I think how often you send things can raise a red flag.

Let's say you share a computer with someone who battles ... You have alot more np than the other person so you decide to surprise them with some BD weapons. Using send to neofriend you MAY be able to send something like a lost desert dagger. But, if you were to send, say an H4000 Helmet (a 4 million np item) and use Send to Neofriend there's a really good chance both of you will be frozen. I don't know if the trading post is an option in a case like that. It is worrisome and it's totally unfair.

If we have more than one account, and want to send stuff back and forth between those accounts we should be able to without being afraid of being frozen. One way or another we've bought and paid for the items.

And we should be able to send things to people without being afraid everyone involved is going to get frozen, especially this time of year! But TNT is cracking down very hard on things. I've seen so many "secret santa" boards deleted, people warned and frozen already and it's early in the month. 2 years ago, we all had our own "secret santa" type things on the boards and they were a blast! No one got scammed, it was just in good fun. But then the scammers did come which really ruined things, and the beggers and whiners who started reporting because they didn't get something.

End rant ...

Good luck, I've never experienced an account getting frozen, but I can imagine it must be tragic.

Very well stated, everconfused. I didn't know about that addition to the T&C--gives me a bit of the willies. Guilt by association--how unfair.

I just told my daughter to be really careful when playing Neo around her friends. She has a friend who was frozen last December for having 14(!) accounts, all of which went to the advent calendar. That friend stopped playing Neo after the freezings, thank goodness. But, still, none of her friends are allowed to play Neopets while at our house--too risky, I think.

I can trust my daughter and husband completely. Because they were both wrongly frozen in the past, we all bend over backwards to obey all rules. But, you just don't know if friends--especially ones without the maturity and life experiences to know what it is like to lose something valuable--are going to think the same way. Nat, my daughter, is a smart little cookie. Some of her friends keep asking her for free items and she tells them to work for them--just like she did.

Yeah...but that is just scary..if you share a family computer...like my sister and I....it can be tough not to have the same IP and sometimes she jumps on right after I get off....That just really sucks that they can...without question freeze someone because they share computers...She is a really nice person and sends me codestones and such for just helping her out with chores....homework and such...great..now I have to worry about both of us getting frozen...because we are nice....

Something's going on, was just lurking on the BD? 5 people iced in under an hour - really weird!
