if you check the trade post. its going for 12million neopoints
but a blue rock averages around 90 to 99k and the blue pppb averages about 50 to 75k.. so I was wondering what on earth is the trader thinking of? Is it possibly an imitation of a battle weapon or another item that is really expensive or rare?

Either they're lots made by people who don't know better about the value of the rock or they are causing a false inflation by them.

Well, I think they won't scam anyone. If someone has 12 million to spare, they should be old enough to know that buying painted petpets is stupid. You should (almost ) always buy the pet and the paintbrush separately.

Not always, though. I've found painted petpets cheaper than the combined prices of petpet and paint brush before.

Odd that those petpets are being offered at 12 million. I'd guess that it's an attempt at false inflation as well. :\

Actually it it's pretty split between being cheaper to buy the pet painted, and cheaper to buy them separetly.

For the cheaper petpets and expensive colours, it's always cheaper to buy them ready painted. You can buy a purple abominable snowball for much, much less than the PB would cost on it's own, weirdly.

People ask outragous prices when there is none of ANY type of item is being offered on the TP. Somebody was asking that of a very cheap food awhile back. One that was really too cheap to be in the TP.

Agreed. When I was looking for Gruslens a while back, I checked all the prices. It was cheaper to buy several different painted Gruslens than the seperate items.
Also, the cheaper ones will get more made when they're new, but when they go out of fashion the price deflates because nobody wants it anymore, sometiems looking for a quick sale so they can afford a newer one.

As for the rock, yeah. If there's nothing on the trading post, that will happen. But, honestly, 12 mil? Even one million np would be pushing their luck for someone to fall for. 100k - 150k would probably be more within the price range of someone too new to realise the tp isn't always at the right value. There's one going for 200k now - wonder if that will get sold?

One's kinda new, so either they're lying about their 'new account' so they can seem better, and really just thought "OMG! There's none available in the tp! It must be worth MILLIONS!".. or it's a scam. The latter's more likely.

I agree that it's usualy cheaper to buy an already painted pet-pet. The paintbrushes are quite dear, especialy since they can be used without de-equiping your exsisting pet-pet. (on an related note painted pet-pets are much harder to sell than the paintbrushes as well)

However more to the point of the post. Yes somebody's being a dip. However due to the ridiculous nature of the post and the fact that they don't have any kind of corner on the market I would personaly put this more under "joke that isn't actualy funny" than "Scam". Not to mention that it wouldn't actualy be a scam unless they were making false clames about the magical rocky powers of the rock.
