My sister has a rather valuable item she'd like to sell. Apparently (I didn't know this - tells you how great most of my stuff is - not!) you're limited to 800,000 NP on the trading post, so a few interested people neomailed her and suggested a private auction.

She's pretty new, and hasn't ever done that, and I don't know how it works, either. How does she set up a private auction? Is it limited to one person? How does she make sure she gets what she wants for this item?

The only way I can think of is to make a Neofriend Only auction where only your neofriends can bid. Your sister has to put the starting value at the price that she wants to sell that item, or the price they have discussed with the buyer

I really should train myself to not get my hopes up with Neopets because I'll just end up falling harder on the ground... face first!

Hmmm. I see. Do they have to bid up some increment to get it, or can they just bid the starting price? Really, I know nothing about auctions, and all the guides I can find are all about bidding, not selling. Thanks for your help.

Yea they have to bid some increment.I'd say put it up for 1 or 2 np under then set the increment for 1 or 2np.

Make the person a neofriend then check the handy 'Neofriends Only' box. DO NOT start the bidding at 1 NP because there should be no competition for the item.

An examplewould be an agreed upon price of 150,000 NP.

You put the starting price at 149,999 NP and then set the increments at 1 NP
or put the starting price at 100,000 NPand then set the increments at 50,000 NP. Whichever.

Or... if she wasn't very nice, she could just make it a non-private auction, using the 150,000 NP example, staring the bidding at 140,000 NP with 10,000 NP increments. So she'd definately make her sale, with a chance of making a bit extra.

Thanks everyone! She did the "neofriends only" auction, with the increment that led to the agreed-on price. Worked like a charm. I appreciate all of your help!
