I was thinking about it a bit, and I don't think I'll be getting Premium anytime soon for the price that it's at. Probably not even half price. There just aren't enough benefits in my opinion.

What do you reckon TNT could add to Premium to make it more worthwhile, without seriously upsetting the difference between Premium and Non-Premium? I had a few ideas, but I think others may have some more.

*5MB or so of image hosting space for use only in shops, lookups, guilds or petpages.
*More space in Petpage for HTML, etc.
*A special shield on their lookup

That's all I can think of right now, but anyone else got any ideas?

A special avatar would be nice, but as long as it didn't could towards total av count. I mean, then that'd give a distinct advantage towards Av collecting. Unless Non-Premium members got a 'I don't use Premium, and I'm Proud of it' Avatar :P

And sneak peaks would be nice, especially for the editorial :P

Before, TNT had a "neodrive" thing to store stuff, so, I think not.

I still stick by my "Let Premium members obtain any avatar they don't already have, except for retired ones" suggestion.

I also wouldn't mind having the image hosting space. Guilds used to be able to host images, but apparently it was eating up their bandwidth. I'd love to have that feature back.

Oh gosh, I remember guilds having image hosting. That was the best!

I guess maybe certain freebie offers like that one that used to be up where you would get 2,000 NP. Only the URL would require a code so that it couldn't just be passed around on forums and through friends. Not sure how they could do that, but I'm sure they could pull it off.

EDIT: How about a Premium Members chat room or message board?

I actually got the idea of this image hosting thing from the Neodrives. I mean, TNT could make it so that the images would only work on Neopets.com pages, can't they? Doesn't angelfire do something like that?

EDIT: Also, I was hoping for stuff that wouldn't give Premium members a major advantage over anything. Just more convenience, cool stuff, you know.

EDITEDIT: Don't Premium members already have the Premium board?

Erm... can you say overpowered? Many avatars require millions of np to get, and allowing Premium members to get them free and easily will totally upset the avatar-collecting scene.

I think the points surfaced by Teh0mega in the first post are great. Premium members should get not get gameplay-related features which gives them an edge over non-premium players, but more of website services and such, like no-ads, free email etc.

Yeah, that's more or less what I mean. Not major changes that'll upset the whole system, but small stuff which might entice a few more people into Premium.

i dont think the "sneak peak" thing would work.... honestly, the second a premium member found out any sneak peak information, it would be all over the forums, and everybody would find out within minutes.

Yes, this is one of the biggest points, basically it has to be balanced so that neither parties feel like they're not getting what is "fair". Believe it or not, I feel that this will pretty much be impossible to do, whatever gets done someone is likely to be unhappy about it. I do quite like the image hosting for images used on Neopets idea though!

I think one of the things TNT might want to do first is actually open up Premium completely to the public rather than having to catch a position when more open up. That way they can get a better idea of what portion of members want the Premium and perhaps they could even do a survey about it all to ask if members who don't join Premium would join if more was offered.

I don't know, this whole Premium thing is a mess, I frankly thought it was a bad idea since the beginning.

Well, so far, the only premium members who've leaked links or other information that wasn't supposed to be general knowledge seem to be people who are still on free trial. If it's an issue that affects everyone, then of course, that information does get spread to the other boards and here too.

What I'd like to see ... the ability to "link" accounts on one computer/IP for just no ads and the premium board. Like, my main account, gallery and lab account and my roommate's account. Not being able to even use the portal or anything else. Just no ads and the board would suit me fine.

There is the webmail, not that I use it for anyone outside of premium and even then it really doesn't get used much. It is very helpful for things like html/css code sending since you can't really do that on the site.

The idea of a "special" avatar for people who are paying is kind of nice. The caveat there would have to be if you cancel premium, you lose the avi. I think that would make it more fair.

But I wouldn't want to see premium turn into some sort of "elite" or "superior" group -- there's already too many people who think that premiums get special treatment, are all rich (in np, etc.) and that's just not the case. People on premium get warned, suspended, frozen -- just like everyone else.

They do seem to be opening more spaces up, at least there are alot more new "faces" on the pb lately. Also unfortunately, alot more spamming, begging, fighting, etc. Just like the other boards.

I have heard a number of stories about Premium members getting a lot more help from TNT in getting their accounts unfrozen than non-Premium members though, I'd constitute that as "special treatment" if it happens to be true.
