Where do you find your images?

Sun Oct 10, 2004 10:50 pm

For those PPTers out there who make sets and images, where do you generally go to find the images that you use for your sets?

i'm generally ok at finding an image when i have an idea of what i want the set to look like, but i like to come across an image that i can then alter into a set, and i'm not really sure where i can go to get some.

thanks :)

I, and probably a lot of other set makers here, just Google the topic for the image. I have 3 sites that I do go to sometimes for my own sets, but I'm not giving them out. (Secret, y'know? ;))

First, I google what I'm looking for. If that doesn't give me the results I want, then I go to stock.xchng. If that fails, I start over. :P

how about if you dont know exactly what you're looking for, and therefore dont know what to put into google to find what you want...?

I just use Zero in my sets, so I google "Megaman Zero" to find Zero piccies. If I'm looking for a certain pic, I just look through all of the results to find it.

So just google for stuff you can use, or look in a wallpaper site, those make good sets (when you resize them of course).

If you want practice taking an image and making a set out of it, try browsing random picture/anime websites. Then just open it and see what you can do with it^^ Some of my best sets were made that way.

I just google for my images. Also when I'm just browsing around I keep my eyes open for images that might make good sets and save them for future use. If you have an image in mind and are haivng trouble finding it, there is a thread here that you can request help in finding an image.

I'm very odd when finding pictures. Usually, I just come across a picture I really like and decide to make a set/av out of it. Or I'm watching a movie, see a shot I like, try and find it on the internet. :)

Or I'm looking for a certain subject/pic, come across something entirely different instead, that I happen to fall in love with. :P

I use the Yahoo image search function, its pretty good because you only get images turn up and you can browse the results by looking at little buttons of the image as opposed to having to look up ever page result you get.

I may be missing something, but doesn't getty images has their stamp on every pic/photo?

Most of them have logos but if you're selective about the pictures you use you can sort of cut the image down so the stamp is no longer on there, that's what I used to do when I used those images anyways. Not only that but if you use the smaller images you don't have the logos, they're only on the large ones.

I normally just go to any big search engine, always Google for me. I just type it in, search through the results, and choose the one I like. :D Easy as 123!

I look at my surroundings. XD

Anyways, I usually go to stock.xchng for images I need, especially as references for things I draw out for sets cause I'm so unimaginative. :P Google is my last resort.

I did that as well. Until I registered.
