Only viable in the US. This will surely defeat annoying spam you get in your mail box.

All details of PWNING that spam company enclosed in this URL (It made me laugh too much).

Be sure to keep any other postage paid junk!

hehehe.. excellent. :)

I send back all the Australian junk pre-payed envelopes that I get. I stuff them with the rest of the junk mail first and then send them. I think there's a weight limit here of 500g.

I should totally do that.

Actually, I don't mind quite a bit of the junk mail (Target, Kmart, jewellery), as it's good to see what's on sale.

I'm more sick of the people asking for money when you donated once 5 years ago x.x

Wow, I should try doing that with all the unwanted credit card offers I get (but of course shredding them first, don't want it to backfire on me). Take that, Capital One! Let's see the barbarians and David Spade deal with this!!!

The fun part is knowing more about the postal regulations than my local postal workers, who insisted that I wasn't allowed to send the package. They made a phone call or two, and grudgingly sent it away.

I work for an organization that uses postage-paid envelopes, and we get these back every so often, so here's a tip that will definitely keep you in the free and clear, and makes your conscience feel better if you're doing this to a nonprofit:

Make sure that for every one of these things you send back, you have already requested to be taken off of the mailing list. The easiest way to do this is (ta-da!) the postage paid envelope.

Send them back a postage paid envelope with that little insert they send you to sign up for stuff (it's called a coupon in industry parlance). Use that so that at least the first time, they know who you are so they actually can remove you from the list. Put a note inside that says, "Please take me off of your mailing list."

Next time they send something, send a box that says "I asked you to stop mailing me junk. Here's some of mine in return - we should keep trading!" This way, you get to be a smart-aleck (hooray!) and there's no sense of guilt or anything.

That's an insanely good idea! i should totally start doing that now. unfortunately, i don't see myself being able to convince my parents to do that. but i could always do it myself. they'd be happy to see my getting rid of my garbage.
