Yup. Cicadas live for about 2-5 weeks. During their short life span, they mate, lay eggs, and die. But it takes 17 years for the cicada eggs to hatch.

They're fun to stomp on. :D

If yo have like heaping piles of cicadas, then you could grind them up and use them as fertilizer. Their bodies are rich in nutrients grass needs, like nitrogen.
