And people wonder why I fear Girl Scouts.

I'll bet the girls in her troop are thrilled. Cookie-funded trips to Europe are awesome!

That's a lot of Thin Mints.

You know, I never really liked those. I prefer the Peanut Butter Patties.

Oh so now I'm craving Girls Scout cookies. Last year, I was working at a Girls Scout camp for the summer and some of the counsellors realised that the sugar free brownies "may have diaretic effects. Needless to say, we didn't eat any of those...

Where did she find the TIME?! I'm the same age as her and I barely have time to tie my shoes in the morning, let alone sell 17,000 boxes of cookies...

The sugar-free brownies are not good. >.< Samoas and Tagalongs, ftw! <3

I wish she had stopped by our house. :/ There wasn't anyone available to be a troop leader this year, so the girls couldn't be in Girl Scouts. We didn't know anyone selling them, so we only got a couple boxes from one of Tim's friends. :(

That's totally crazy, though. Good for her and the rest of her troop! :)

Soo... if this girl sold so much, why didn't she come to my house?

Seriously, I think Girl Scouts in my area are an endangered species. =( We only found one troop this year. One! Usually you can see them all over the place.

It's pretty cool that she sold so much though. ^_^

The diuretic effects would be no more than that which Polos etc have. They're "sugar free" in that the sugar in them cannot be absorbed by your body, but you can taste it - so you get the sweet flavour but don't get the sugar into your bloodstream - hence why diabetics can eat them no worries. It's a diuretic because as you're not absorbing the sugar it "traps" water in your bowels rather than allowing it to be absorbed. You wouldn't really need to worry unless you were eating a LOT of the cookies!

Still, the thought of getting the running squits with no proper bathrooms were enough to put me off. And Tagalongs are by far the yummiest. <3 I miss them!

From what I can tell, selling door-to-door is considered a mug's game by the modern Girl Scout on the go. I'm kind of glad about that; it's not very fun to have to explain to offended little girls on your porch why you don't want to buy their cookies. (Food allergies FTW!)

Still, I think that involved slightly more salesmanship than the current practice of just setting up a table on a street corner or at the mall.

I *hated* selling things door to door, be it for Girl Scouts or school fundraising. lol I like the cookie stands because you can choose to buy or not and you don't feel pressured into it. Also, you can pay right there and get your cookies then instead of having to wait for them to come in and such. :)

It's actively discouraged, or at least in my troop it was. We weren't supposed to knock on anyone's door unless we knew the people very well.

I can believe this easily. Not only are those cookies incredibly addicting, the people who bought them would know exactly where to go when they wanted more. Plus, you reach more people that actually want to buy cookies than random people who only do to make you go away.

I was curious about that door-to-door thing. It is a bit dangerous to do, and the people who you try to sell the stuff to are often not happy to see you even if you have delicious cookies for sale. Not the greatest sales strategy at all.
