To my Sushi,
You were a funny wee girl. When I first got you, I really didn't know what our relationship would be. You screamed at me and I fed you. You pooped and I picked it up and threw it away. You made messes in your cage and made me clean it up. You chewed apart your towels and I gave you more. You'd let your water run from the bottle and wet your floor. You'd pee on me when I upset you and once you even pooped about 9 poops on my mom (and countless others on me).
You were black and cream and you loved it when I put new hay into your cage for you to burrow in, eat and eventually pee on. You loved to have pee fights with Fugu, and I remember unhappily having to wash my walls before I moved out of my old house thanks to you. You'd steal from your baby sisters and then you'd sit on them if they made you mad.
Sushi, I love you. You held your head up high when things got rough. You didn't let heart problems, bone less or cancer really get you down. You were my fighter, my little girl. You would snuggle in my lap on a bad day and would try to rip earings out of my ears to show how much you loved me too. I'm sorry that you weren't with me longer. But even today the vet said you were obviously a special pig. In the end I spent more money on you then I ever have on one of my real live horses or dogs and I know how much you think thats hillarious. Thats why you kept trying to die. Today was special, you managed to eat some applesauce and then you snuggled with me before I took you to meet the vet. Everyone at work loved you too even though they just met you. And your imploring screams in the office during the air hockey tournament while you heard a bag rustle made so many of us smile. You've taught so many people so much about proper care and just how wonderful your weird species can be. Please Sushi, wherever you are. Be free. Pee free. And most of all may you eat your vegetables with joy.
My favorite picture of us.
