In addition to the above, what thoughts and feelings do each of these posters inspire?

I personally found 2 the most compelling. I was trying to think if myself in the time, and that one got the most out of me. I dont' know why though, it's weird, especially since I'm not American. The last one is my second choice though.

Number 3. Its got meaning, blunt, easy to see, and right down to the point. Its easy to understand, and it gets the point across right away. No confusion.

I think Number 3 convinces me. Just my opinion, though.

Number 5, mostly because of the line "Invaded but not Conquered." It just sort of has a feel to it about strength and vigor.

I like the first one...I don't really know why, though....I think it's because it really emphasizes the difference between Nazi Germany and America, and portrays the other side as evil, which is really what all good propaganda is supposed to do.

Mmhmm, me too. That, and I'm a book person.

Although I can see where the others are coming from, this is the only one that really jumped out at me the first glance through. :)

Number one is really the only one that jumped out at me.

#2 and #5 are the most striking for me.

#1 had the strongest message, for me, because i feel so strongly about censorship, but #5 had the strongest visual. coupled with the very powerful line "invaded but not conquered," it's the most compelling one for me. i'm not a religious person, but religious imagery never fails to stir up some interest. #1 just wasn't visually compelling enough for me to pick it.

#4 is just confusing. i don't know what's going on.

#3 would be more stirring if it wasn't so cartoony. it makes me not take it seriously.

#2 looks too much like a movie poster.

One of the key points hammered into soldiers' brains in WWII was "don't talk to anyone, because he could be a nazi spy." If someone had talked, then obviously the raid wouldn't have gone well.

You have to probably be familiar with WWII-era training films to get number 4.

Number 2 called out to me the most.

I preferred number 1 myself. I think it's just that, of all the things I hate, book burning is quite possibly number one on my list.

All right, my homework is done, but heaven forbid the polls close. This is interesting enough to keep going.

Actually, #5 isn't religious imagery. Obviously, it started out that way, but the cross in question is the Croix de Lorraine, an old heraldic symbol that became the symbol of the Resistance and the Free French. Which is totally blooming awesome.

I personally think poster 1. It's the only one to use real images, and it really makes a bigger impact on me.
