I heard on the radio today that a 5 year old girl was saving her allowance and was donating it to the red cross in a month.
As much as I feel sorry for these people and wish this had never happened....

Its Gods way of bringing down the population.

Not all of the people killed by the Tsunami believed in god. Some were tribes that have barely had anything to do with Christianity, or with the 'modern' world.

I doubt strongly that this is Gods way of bringing down the population.
I think it's a natural disaster. And those happen. God or no God.

I'm so happy, my school raised over $3500!! And there's probably more coming in! I feel so much better, now that I've had a chance to donate!

And I don't think it's necessarily an act of God either. Natural disasters do happen, and it's not because God decided that he should shift rocks.

It's my friend's party in a week or so, and she's asked for people to give her cash instead of presents, so that she can donate to the tsumani appeal. I'm probably going to give her more than I would actually spend, since I was planning on donating anyway.

My friend was in Thailand when it first happened (I had a massive freakout at 4am when I remembered), and two days later she was meant to be going to Phuket, I think. She saw a photo of the place they were meant to be staying in - it was completely destroyed.

Gone, forever.

Thank God she wasn't there, Alex.
A girl I know at school vacationed in Thailand and left the place she was staying in two days before the tsunami hit. I was so happy to see her at school this last week. Ugh. I get chills every time I think about it.

I know - I was having a serious freak out (Just ask Cassi :P), because I couldn't remember when she was going, and I had no way of finding out for a couple of days.

At least she's fine - I can't even begin to imagine what others are going through, if they've got loved ones who were over there at the time.

Gone, forever.

And you got ME freaking out too!

Just the amount of worrying I did over someone I didn't even know, I can't begin to imagine how awful it would be for people who did know someone killed...

I just heard on the news that the Indonesian government wants US Marines out by March. And they're also refusing to let the Marines go anywhere without escorts.
I feel a bit indignant about that-- no one should let resentments get in the way of helping their citizens. People are dying out there and there are willing volunteers to get water, food, clothing, shelter to them.... Why turn help away?

I got back from Australia about two days ago, and because of the huge time difference, and the jet-lag as a result, my dad opted to stay in Penang, Malyasia for two days before taking another plane to Oz. We were staying in a hotel about...70 metres from the water? Well, we left at night, the next day we get a frantic text from my sister (she couldn't come cause of revising ect.) asking if we had been hit and if we were ok.

Pretty close if you ask me, I spent about a half an hour after that texting all my friends and asking for another friends mobile number (she has the same name as my sister, and I had my sisters number in her place ¬_¬) who lives in Malaysia cause she never told anyone which bit.
I get back to school, she's not there, so I ask her best friend. Turns out she lives in Kuala Lumpar and was ill, so is taking a later plane.

Its really nice to see people helping so much, but from what I've seen (i've only been here two days though) Britains being stingy. Compared to Australia though, which had adverts on it every second one, and charitys had to stop accepting pledges because they got so many.
But I can't say much, I wasn't here during the few days after, when most donations were probably given.

My school started a thing now and for every dollar we donate we get our name put on a hand. My mom payed for the stuff but I have like 10 hands. So $10 to help aid. Not much but every little bit helps.

The preist at my church came from that area, all of his family lived but a lot of his friends are missing. Missing is a nice word for dead. He is very sad. People are donating a lot to him and his family getting good support from our area.
