I had just come from a Harry Potter event in my town--where all of us "rich: folk with children in tow were living it up and spending money hand over fist for HP action figures and games, etc.--and was walking towards my car when she came up to me.
Didn't ask for money or beg or anything like that, just please could I help her find the homeless shelter that was in our town. She was so embarassed and explained that her husband had just died and she had no family to turn to. Honestly, I almost started crying. Here I was spending goo gobs on my spoiled kid and here was a woman who didn't even have a warm bed for her two little kids.
And, trust me, I am not an easy mark--I live just outside of Chicago and see beggars, panhandlers, and con artists all of the time in my suburb.
But, she was none of those. And, she really got to me--I reached into my purse and gave her all of the money I had and then I went home and cried for about 1/2 an hour about how unfair live was.
Too sad.

Well, about the same time, I went on an overnight out of town trip with some friends. And we were very giggly the entire time, particularly my friend Miranda and I. For some reason the phrase "Laura The Milk Fairy" was stuck in my head head, so I told her about it. One bag of cotton candy later, when we were very hyper, we would randomly shout it out, only we shortened it to "Lo The Milk Fair!"
The embarrassing part didn't happen until the next day. We were going to a mall, and we were walking toward the entrance. We were on a sidewalk, and a van went by with a very colourful bumper sticker. I was trying to read it, and not watching where I was going, and then I randomly shouted "Lo The Milk Fair!" again, and at that moment, the sidewalk curved, and I wasn't watching. I stepped right off the edge of the curb, tripped and landed on my hands and knees.
I wasn't hurt bad, but I jumped up giggling to try to shrug it off. My hands were a little scraped, and my knees were sore, they'd ripped across my right knee, and my knee was scraped and bleeding. I still have a scar there =P
But, on the bright side, when I got home, and Neomailed the Laura girl, and told her about how her name had been partially responsible for my injury =P

For some reason I couldn't get my hand out of the leash so my dog started to pull me across the road. Once my dog got to the tree the cat had ran up, I finally got to my feet and started to limp home(I had cut my knees up pretty bad) As I'm just about home, I see my neighbor and my Mom standing outside laughing at me.
