Those sharks are like the coolest things ever. Since they don't actually kill the seal, but they benefit from it, wouldn't they be technically classified as a parasite?

*mentally glances through Bio notes* I'm not sure. Sort of. They don't attack themselves to the seal, and most parasites are attached to their host. (Like a flea on a dog.) Ah, what do I know?

Those Elephant Seals sure are strange though. They all need some rhinoplasty done, you know, a nose job for the ol' conker. :P

I had to do a report on the Channel Islands for the Jason Project in 6th grade, Did you know only the male elephant seals have the nose? ^_^

STOP IT. I'M SERIOUS.
Look, I'm a selachaphobe! I said this VERY SERIOUSLY in my first post here. PLEASE stop! I'm most afraid of Cookie-Cutter sharks, if you must know (after seeing a rough sketch of one in one of my favorite science books e.e) and I nearly had a heart attack there.

I really like this topic, but if you would please post shark pictures in links... that would be great...

Please?

Wow, I'm never going swimming in the Ocean...ever :o

Those sharks probably havn't ever been seen because they live really deep in the ocean. They sure are cool looking, but I hope I never EVER see one.

The Cookie Cutter shark.
So named because it takes cookie cutter like bites out of live seals (and leaves them alive). Last I heard none had been found alive or seen alive; they just wash up on shore.

I'm not sure about you, but these cookie cutter sharks looks like they're jeering at me  but nonetheless, the teeth torments me. How can anything have such strangely scary teeth that looks like (to me) looks like those grass that are cut from plastic/cardboard. *slowly walks away*

How can they live in super deep ocean if they prey on seals/sea lions...?
