Thinking of leaving PPT...

Sun Oct 17, 2004 10:05 pm

I'm thinking about leaving. It's been two years, and I've stayed here through 3 different resets, many different landmark events, and tons of people. But it just seems like the PPT I used to love is gone now. Everyone's too nice all the time, all the inside jokes are gone, and it just seems like I don't fit in as well as I used to. It's sort of sad...I just think the old PPT spirit has disappeared in a haze of legal problems and new members.

Yes, a lot of members had this same problem after PPT was reset at the end of May. I myself felt like that (and still kinda do). Here's some advice: Take a break from PPT for about 2--4 weeks (or more, if you feel like it). When you come back, everything will hopefully be fine.

Mmm. I took a break a while ago, and I'm back now... I'm not gonna post anything on the RP board for a while though, because it really hurts to have an Rp you love locked, and as long as they keep locking them as often as they have... ow.

Please don't leave though! I was going to, but the break made me realize that all the other forums I'm on are either way too active and wash all the posts off the board in an hour, have about three posts a month, or don't give a care what I say. So I'm on PPT to stay!

I need caffiene.

Come on! Don't leave! You're one of the cool people! If I can stay after having 7000 posts eaten, having at least 4 of my PPT friends leaving, and getting about three strikes, then dang it you can stay too!!! And if you walk out that PPT door, I'll kidnap Yoh and never bring him back! So DON'T LEAVE FOREVER!!! I'll let ya take a little break, but if you're not back then I'll go mad and eat someone! And when I get sent to jail, I'll destroy it in a massive sea of chipmunks and couches, letting all dem criminals free, and you don't want that! So NO LEAVY!!!

Yep, ever since end of may. I took an incredibly long break, and came back to find that I'm a new member o.O; oh well, I'll work my way back up^_^ Try a break, it might help!

Oh, come one! Your one of the really cool people! I'd miss you.

Like everyone else says, take a nice long break. It feels better. I've done that.

I know it's been hard for me too, it doesn't seem like the same old PPT to me either, but things grow and change, it's the way of life. When PPT went down all those months ago, I was bummed I was forced to pay a bit more attention to my neopets lol but I missed chatting with everyone.

When they got the temp. forums up I restarted my account, when I learned temp. was going to be more permanent I got disappointed and didn't come for quite a long time.

But I've been slowly making my way back into the swing of things. So maybe a good break will do you good, it did me.

I agree with Lady Night, I really liked the old forums better, in my opinion they were a lot more fun, with better things in my opinion, nice usergroups, lots of friendly members and moderators, and the rest. Some of the members didn't rescribe, and a lot of things have changed around here. Lina Blade for instance isn't here anymore, she was one of my favorite moderators.

I took a break for a couple of months, came back, and its a lot better for me now. :P

Amethyst, do you sorta mean by your statement that everyone has to be nice/is forced to be nice with every post for fear of getting yelled at...?

I dunno. That's just what I'm getting from it.

*hugs* Either way, take a short break from PPT if you need to. Come back in a week or two. If you've missed PPT, great, if not...It'd be really sad to see you go.

I too think the spirit of PPT has sorta died, however it also feels like the PPT from 2 years ago when I first started. Though I definately preferred Pre-reset ppt.

However. I'm still here, talking, being far more social than ever before, and so forth. You too can get over PPT dulldrums.

You'll just get used to it. I've lived through many forum resets and survived. Of course, its rather hard if people you like leave the forums, and you are faced with a bunch of strangers, but after a short break you'll come back fresh and find new friends here.

As for the people being too nice part, I think she means that the people are too artificial here. I sort of agree, but if you like to see sparks fly then join the debating team. ;)

Aww why wouldn't you feel the love here? ^_^ I have love for everyone!! *hugs everyone and hands out chocolate flavoured muffins*.

The rules are very simple. Just respect people how you expect to be respected and you can't go wrong. It's the same in real life eh? The world wouldn't be a very nice place if we didn't respect each other.

In regards to the community, if you want to feel it more, you got to get out there and start chatting to other members. Get to know them and vwala! ^_^ I chat to refgular members here every day :D and have got to know some of them very well. You can too.

Yeah, actually, that's exactly what I mean. If you try to have an orderly argument with someone, nothing personal, no flames, you get warned. Most people go on and on about how this is a kid's site, but I'd like to see the actual percentage of active members under age 10.

Oh, and with regards to your response, Zero, Yoh and I have been married for exactly 3 months tomorrow, and I keep him firmly chained to an iron peg in the sitting room, so there's not much you can do:p

I think I know what you mean, though I do not have that feeling on this forum. I have been here for several years, mostly lurking. I know nobody, so nothing has changed for me. Seeing as I barely post.
But the forum does seem less attractive to me than one I used to go to. (NNN) Mainly because of the large amount of (unwritten) rules here. And the lack of rules there. (I made sure that it stayed that way until it died.)

Again, I do not know about this forum. But I do not believe that the age of a person should matter. Some things might seem inappropriate for children under 13. But then again, don't they need parental permission to have their account activated here? If they lie about their age, they have to face the consequences. (And I am sure that the majority, if not all, of the under-13 members lied) And if the parents sign the consent form, then they should know what their children will be facing. There is no need to make the forum suitable for all ages.

I agree. This is what makes forums, and basically any website where you interact with other people, fun.

Anyway, we had this, too, at NeoNewsNow. Many of the older (though, everyone newer than me was still a newbie from my point of view. Basically anyone. [UD#13]) users started leaving at one point. Starting a chain reaction. And as more and more of the older veteran members start leaving, the forum gets boring. As you are slowly losing all your 'friends'. Indeed, you can still talk to them on AIM/MSN, by email, phone, or whatever. But the forum itself becomes a more uncomfortable place to stay.

In the short time that I have been actively browsing this part of the forum, I have seen many users leave. I doubt anyone likes seeing this, and I am sure people will miss you. Take a small break, it'll do you good. :) PPT can improve, and it will.
