what/who happened that made your town somewhat acknowledged by other people?

the song (Don't Go Back To) Rockville by REM
F. Scott Fitzgerald is buried here. 2 feet away from a commercial road. Respect.

Hmm... This will be interesting for me.
Okay, for the town I live in (Round Rock)...
- It was named after a round rock (duh xD)
- The rock was used as a landmark for the Chisolm Trail
- Dell's headquarters are located here
- We're north of Austin
And now for Austin...
- It's the Live Music Capital of the World
- It's home to SXSW (South by Southwest)
- It's home to the Austin Film Festival
- A lot of high-tech companies are either headquartered there or have offices there (and in surrounding towns)

My town is on the map??
Where??Lol..ok so it's on a map but it's not known for anything.I did find in a book that the brown 'n serve rolls were created here on accident....the world's first baby sitter was here and we once had the world's largest coke bottle...but it burnt down.
And Why aren't we on the map?!?

Umm... we've got...
West Edmonton Mall
It's the biggest Mall in the world. And it's ugly. And it's a time waster. Theres not much to do there, unless you want to see a movie... and theres about two good stores there. It's full of tourists... (what a waste!) and scary angsty teens (no offence; but seriously; scary angsty teens!)
We've also run the commonwealth games... and the world track championships... and a few other main sports events.
Size wise; we're a huge for the amount of people we have (just over a million). We've got a massive amount of green in our city, lots of river valley (and mini valleys)... and yeah.
*shrugs*
We have the Edmonton Oilers (boo... ) and the Edmonton Eskimos (BOOO... )...
And a really great disabled riding program! Hah!
Edit:
And Red Deer (where I go to school). Is famous for a candy factory where someone (my great great grandfather!) invented the banana split and the puffed wheat square.
Go Great great grandad! *grins*
My family makes the best fudge and peanut brittle. Ever.
